Why is my BLACKMER Air Compressor 4-Way Valve leaking?
    • W
      Willie CaldwellAug 12, 2025
A leaking 4-way valve on your BLACKMER Air Compressor may be due to several reasons. It could be caused by worn or broken piston rings. In this case, lubricate with a stick lubricant compatible with the material being transferred and check the condition of the rings by restricting the discharge line. If the pressure increases slowly, the rings are likely faulty. Other potential causes include a plugged strainer (clean the screen), low transfer rate (remove and inspect for broken or worn springs, discs, or bodies; adjust liquid relief valves), a faulty compressor valve (adjust the valve), compressor drive slipping (tighten belts, check for sheared or loose keys, or a loose flywheel), or improperly designed or installed piping (use proper pipe sizes).

What to do if my BLACKMER Air Compressor oil pump is not working?
    • M
      Megan WeeksAug 16, 2025
If the oil pump on your BLACKMER Air Compressor isn't working, start by setting the oil pump relief valve and checking the oil pump drive tab or stop pin for damage. Also, check the oil level and fill as needed. A dirty inlet strainer could also be the culprit, so be sure to clean it.

What to do if my BLACKMER Air Compressor has knocks or other noises?
    • H
      Heather ChangAug 20, 2025
If your BLACKMER Air Compressor is making knocking or other unusual noises, this may indicate worn internal parts. Inspect the compressor through the inspection plates and repair as necessary.

    Patricia GreenAug 25, 2025
What causes gas leaking from the crankcase of my BLACKMER Air Compressor?
    • K
      Kara BaxterAug 25, 2025
Gas leaking from the crankcase of your BLACKMER Air Compressor can be caused by faulty or worn packing, which would need to be replaced. Another cause could be a scored piston rod, in which case you should replace the crosshead assemblies and packing. Finally, it could be due to an improper seal arrangement.

What to do if liquid trap is full in BLACKMER Air Compressor?
    • J
      Jeffrey JacksonAug 27, 2025
If the liquid trap in your BLACKMER Air Compressor is full, drain it through the drain valve. Then, relieve the vacuum through the bleeder valve on top of the liquid trap.

What to do if my BLACKMER Air Compressor has an open valve?
    • E
      Eric VasquezAug 31, 2025
If your BLACKMER Air Compressor has an open valve, it is likely due to a line blockage downstream of the compressor. Locate the blockage and correct it.

What to do if excess flow valves are slugged in BLACKMER Air Compressor?
    • B
      Barbara MurraySep 4, 2025
If the excess flow valves are slugged in your BLACKMER Air Compressor, installation of a valved bypass line between the suction and discharge lines may be necessary.
  • E
    Erica HurstSep 8, 2025
Why is my BLACKMER Air Compressor improperly mounted?
    • M
      Monica PetersonSep 8, 2025
An improperly mounted BLACKMER Air Compressor can stem from loose or broken mounting or anchor bolts, in which case you should ensure the base is supported full length. Other causes include improperly aligned V-belt sheaves, an improperly installed flywheel, or nonfunctioning valves. For nonfunctioning valves, replace or repair them.
