Why is gas leaking from the crankcase breather of my BLACKMER Air Compressor?
    • M
      Matthew AyalaSep 23, 2025
Gas leaking from the crankcase breather of your BLACKMER Air Compressor can be due to faulty or worn packing, which would require replacement. Another cause could be a scored piston rod, in which case you should replace the crosshead assemblies and packing. Finally, an improper seal arrangement may be the culprit.

Why is my BLACKMER LB601B 4-Way Valve leaking?
    • J
      Jason ValenciaAug 23, 2025
A leaking 4-way valve in your BLACKMER Air Compressor can stem from several issues. Worn or broken piston rings could be the culprit; try lubricating them with a compatible stick lubricant and check their condition by restricting the discharge line. A plugged strainer can also cause leaks, so clean the screen. Inspect the valve for broken or worn springs, discs, or bodies. Adjust the valve according to the instructions in 'Valve Replacement'. Tighten belts, and check for sheared, loose keys, or a loose flywheel. Finally, improperly designed or installed piping can contribute to leaks; ensure you are using the correct pipe sizes.

What to do if my BLACKMER LB601B Air Compressor is leaking gas?
    • S
      Susan CortezAug 26, 2025
If your BLACKMER Air Compressor is leaking gas, the problem could be due to faulty or worn packing, which would need replacement. Another cause might be a scored piston rod, in which case you should replace the crosshead assemblies and packing. Improper seal arrangement can also lead to leaks; refer to 'Seal Arrangements' for guidance.

What to do if my BLACKMER Air Compressor has knocks or other noises?
    • C
      curtisrachelAug 26, 2025
If your BLACKMER Air Compressor is making knocking or other unusual noises, it might be due to worn internal parts. Inspect the internal parts through the inspection plates and repair as necessary.

What to do if my BLACKMER LB601B Air Compressor has a liquid trap full?
    • F
      Francisco DiazAug 27, 2025
If the liquid trap in your BLACKMER Air Compressor is full, drain it through the drain valve and relieve vacuum through the bleeder valve on top of the liquid trap. You can also stop the compressor to let the excess flow open.

Why is my BLACKMER Air Compressor experiencing shake or vibration?
    • Y
      yjonesSep 17, 2025
Shaking or vibration in your BLACKMER Air Compressor can stem from several sources. It could be due to loose or broken mounting or anchor bolts. Improper mounting, where the base isn't fully supported, can also cause this. Check for improperly aligned V-belt sheaves or an improperly installed flywheel. Nonfunctioning valves can also contribute to vibration; replace or repair them as needed.

What causes the relief valve to actuate on my BLACKMER Air Compressor?
    • A
      Allison MendozaSep 14, 2025
If the relief valve on your BLACKMER Air Compressor is actuating, it could be due to a valve being closed downstream of the compressor; ensure this valve is open. Alternatively, there might be a line blockage downstream; locate and correct the blockage.

    Lisa MartinezSep 15, 2025
What to do if my BLACKMER Air Compressor has no flow?
    • M
      Monica JohnsonSep 15, 2025
No flow in your BLACKMER Air Compressor can be attributed to a couple of issues. First, the liquid trap might be full; drain it through the drain valve and relieve the vacuum through the bleeder valve on top. Second, excess flow valves might be slugged; stop the compressor to allow the excess flow to open. Installing a valved bypass line between the suction and discharge lines may be necessary.

How to stop shake or vibration in BLACKMER LB601B?
    • L
      lfreemanSep 6, 2025
If your BLACKMER Air Compressor experiences shaking or vibration, inspect and tighten any loose or broken mounting or anchor bolts. Ensure the base is fully supported as described in “Mounting the Compressor.” Check that the V-belt sheaves are properly aligned, referring to “V-Belt Drives.” Verify the flywheel is correctly installed, as detailed in “Compressor Flywheel.” Replace or repair any nonfunctioning valves.

What to do if BLACKMER LB601B has no oil pressure?
    • C
      Christopher MitchellSep 3, 2025
If your BLACKMER Air Compressor has no oil pressure, start by setting the oil pump relief valve correctly. Then, inspect the oil pump drive tab or stop pin for any damage. Check the oil level and replenish if it's low. Lastly, clean the inlet strainer to ensure it is free from dirt.
