Why won't my Blagdon Pump Water Pump start?

  Your Blagdon Pump Water Pump might not start due to several reasons. It could be a malfunction or seizure of the air valve assembly, an obstructed fluid line or diaphragm chamber, diaphragm failure, diaphragm seal failure, or an air valve system malfunction. Also check if air is connected to the exhaust. To resolve this, check the carrier for freedom of movement (clean, oil, and replace if necessary), clean the fluid line or increase its size, remove any obstruction in the diaphragm chamber, replace the diaphragm or shaft seals, check all seals in the valve chest assembly, and reconnect the air inlet to the correct location.

  If fluid is being discharged from the air exhaust of your Blagdon Pump Water Pump, this could be due to a diaphragm failure or a loose frontplate. Replace the diaphragm and re-torque the frontplate to the manual's specifications.

  If your Blagdon Pump Water Pump is stroking but not discharging, it could be due to excessive suction lift, suction line leakage, a valve ball not seating correctly or being damaged, a clogged suction line or strainer, or diaphragm failure. Shorten the suction line, check and correct any suction line leakage, check and remove any obstruction from the valve ball (or replace it), clear the suction line or strainer, and replace the diaphragm if necessary.

  Erratic flow from your Blagdon Pump Water Pump can be caused by diaphragm failure on one side, a valve ball not seating correctly, suction leakage, or an air valve system malfunction. Replace the diaphragm, check and remove any obstruction from the valve ball, check and correct any suction leakage, replace shaft seals and check all seals in the valve chest assembly.

  An intermittent stroke rate in your Blagdon Pump Water Pump can occur due to over lubrication, diaphragm shaft seal failure, air valve system malfunction, or a valve ball not seating or being partially obstructed. Shut down the pump and remove the air connection if it is due to over lubrication. Introduce a small quantity of de-greasing agent into air valve and replace the seals. Run pump until clear. Replace the seals. Check all seals in the valve chest assembly. Clear any obstruction from the valve ball.
