4. Adjust the left-hand flat mirror in
the same manner as described for
the right-hand flat mirror.
5. Adjust the left-hand convex mirror
in the same manner as described
for the right-hand convex mirror.
6. Adjust the elliptical cross-view mir-
rors by positioning each mirror so
the arrow embossed on the mirror
head points directly at the driver’s
eyes.
7. The final adjustment of the mirror
system must be accomplished to
provide the seated driver a view
consistent with the requirements
of FMVSS 111.
•The driver must be able to see
the entire test cylinder in each
location.
•The driver must be able to see
the entire top surface of cylin-
ders “M” and “N.
•Thedrivermusthaveaviewofat
least 200 feet from the surface of
the mirror.
•The elliptical cross-viewmirrors should be adjusted so the seated
driver has a complete view of all cylinders A through “P, when they
are positioned as shown in the illustration, and not directly visible.
•Theviewprovidedbytheellipticalmirrorsmustoverlaptheviewaf-
forded by the rear view driving mirror system.
All mirrors must be cleaned and adjusted as necessary to provide a safe driving en-
vironment. The use of a mild ammonia/water solution is recommended to clean mir-
rors.
