Overview

The AR BLUE CLEAN AR142 is a power washer designed for outdoor household and industrial use. It is a proprietary, all-aluminum, water pump system that offers a full 12-month "bumper to bumper" warranty on the power washer and all parts/accessories.

Function Description:

The AR142 power washer is designed to clean various surfaces using high-pressure water. It features a quick-release Garden Hose Adapter with an incorporated water filter and water check valve, ensuring clean water supply to the pump. The unit includes a high-pressure adjustable spray lance, a detergent bottle, and various accessories to enhance its cleaning capabilities. A Total Stop System (TSS) is integrated, which turns the washer on only when the spray gun trigger is pressed and automatically turns the motor off to protect the pump from overheating. This system also helps to extend the life of the pump and save energy.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: AR142
  • Max PSI (lbs/sq/in): 1,600
  • Max GPM (gal/per/min): 1.35
  • Max Temp: 122° F
  • Volts: 120
  • Amps: 11
  • Weight (lbs): 20

Usage Features:

The AR142 is designed for user-friendly operation with several features to ensure safety and efficiency.

  • Unpacking and Assembly: The unit requires some assembly, including attaching the handle, high-pressure hose, spray gun, and other accessories. The high-pressure hose connects to the pump by screwing the collar onto the outlet threads until hand tight. The spray gun connects to the high-pressure hose by inserting and twisting until it clicks into place.
  • Spray Gun Operation: The spray gun has a safety lock button that must be pushed from left to right to allow the trigger to be squeezed. To engage the safety lock, push the button from right to left. This prevents accidental operation.
  • Lances and Detergent Bottle: The power washer comes with an adjustable spray lance and an extension lance. The adjustable lance allows for varying spray patterns (pencil jet to fan spray) by twisting the nozzle. The extension lance can be used to increase the cleaning distance. The detergent bottle can be attached to the spray gun for applying cleaning solutions. The ratio of water to detergent is 10:1 or 10 parts water to 1 part detergent.
  • Garden Hose Adapter (GHA): The GHA connects the power washer to a garden hose. It includes a filter to prevent debris from entering the pump. Ensure the filter is clean and properly installed.
  • Power Connection: The power washer should be connected to a 120-volt outlet with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). The GFCI button should be pressed to reset it if the indicator window shows red, indicating a trip.
  • Starting and Stopping: To turn on the unit, ensure the water supply is connected and turned on, then press the "ON/OFF" switch to "ON". The motor will run only when the spray gun trigger is squeezed. To stop, release the trigger and press the "ON/OFF" switch to "OFF".
  • Nozzle Cleaning: A clogged nozzle can cause significant pressure reduction. A nozzle cleaning wire is provided to clear any blockages.
  • Adjustable Spray Lance: The adjustable lance allows users to select between a narrow high-pressure stream for tough dirt and a wide fan spray pattern for general cleaning. The angle of the spray can be adjusted by twisting the nozzle.
  • Detergent Use: The AR142 is designed to use detergents specifically formulated for power washers. AR BLUE CLEAN offers various detergents for different cleaning tasks (Auto, Motorcycle, Boat, Universal). These can be purchased online at www.arblueclean.com. The cleaning solution should be mixed with water in the detergent bottle at a 10:1 ratio.
  • Avoiding Damaging Surfaces: Always test the spray on an inconspicuous area first. Avoid spraying directly at people, animals, or electrical devices. Maintain a safe distance from the surface being cleaned, especially with the pencil jet, to prevent damage.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the AR142 power washer.

  • Storage: Before storing, turn off the unit, disconnect the power cord, and turn off the water supply. Squeeze the trigger for 2-3 minutes to drain excess water and release any remaining water pressure. Disconnect the garden hose from the water inlet. The power washer should not be stored in freezing temperatures unless Pump Saver is used.
  • Pump Saver: Pump Saver is a product that protects the pump from freezing and lubricates internal parts. It is essential for storage in ALL climates to prevent damage from internal corrosion. To use, turn off the power washer, disconnect all hoses, shake the bottle, screw the dispensing valve onto the bottle, screw the Pump Saver into the water inlet, turn the power washer on, and let the Pump Saver fluid exit the water outlet. Then, turn the valve off and remove the bottle.
  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the detergent bottle and nozzle. The screen filter in the garden hose adapter should be cleaned periodically.
  • O-Rings: The O-rings in the bayonet end of the lances and detergent bottle should be cleaned regularly and lubricated with non-water soluble grease.
  • Water Supply: Never allow the power washer pump to run for more than one minute after you have turned off the water supply, as this can cause the motor and pump to overheat and fail.
  • Extension Cords: Never use an extension power cord if it defeats the effectiveness of the GFCI and increases the chance of electrocuting the operator.
  • Nozzle Maintenance: Keep the nozzle cleaning wire handy to unclog the nozzle if pressure drops.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the unit not turning on, high pressure problems, water leaks, and the unit running but not producing water flow.
  • Replacement Parts: A list of replacement parts with their part numbers and quantities is provided, including detergent bottles, hoses, spray guns, lances, garden hose adapters, electric cords, and GFCI assemblies. Pump spare part kits for water seals, pre-assembly TSS, and O-ring kits are also available.

To claim warranty service, a "RETURNED MERCHANDISE AUTHORIZATION (RMA) NUMBER" must be obtained by calling AR NORTH AMERICA, INC. at 1-866-235-5112 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CST) or via e-mail at info@ar-blueclean.com.
