5.3.2 Loading the firmware version
In rare cases, the BT 6.190 firmware may need to be updated.
. Firmware updates may be carried out only if instructed to so by us!
All codes (see page 4−15) are reset to a value of ”0” during a firm-
ware update!
The following is required to carry out a firmware update:
D access to the rear side of the BT 6.190 housing,
D a sharp object to press key S1 (for its location, see page 3−4),
D a PC with ”WinBlow” software installed,
D a suitable connection cable (BT 6.190 <−> PC; for the pin assignment
of X2, see page 3−4) and
D a data carrier (diskette, CD) with the appropriate firmware.
L Proceed as follows:
1. Connect a V24 interface of the PC (COM1 or COM2) with X2 on the
BT 6.190.
2. Ensure that power is supplied to the BT 6.190.
3. Start the ”WinBlow” software. Select the desired language and the
V24 interface that is used.
4. Insert a data carrier with the firmware into the PC. Select the path and
filename of the firmware. Firmware filenames have the extension
”.hex”.
5. Click button ”Load firmware”.
A request for you to set the bootstrap mode on the device appears.
. Step 7. must be carried out directly after step 6.. If this does not oc-
cur, it may happen that the data transfer does not start.
6. Press the flush key S1 on the rear of the BT 6.190.
This switches the device from operating mode to bootstrap mode.
This status is displayed by a flush LED above key S1.
. If you want to exit the bootstrap mode of the BT 6.190 at this point,
you must interrupt the power supply of the BT 6.190 (disconnect
X1).
After the following step has been started, the power supply of the
BT 6.190 may not be interrupted until the firmware has loaded com-
pletely!
