4. Make VoIP and Far-End Connections
VoIP
Use a CAT 5 cable to connect the VoIP port (RJ-45) on the EX-1280C to a compatible SIP IP PBX.
For information on configuring the VoIP connection, see the help file in the ControlSpace Designer software.
Telephone Connection
Connect the EX-1280C to a telephone line using the TELEPHONE LINE connection port (RJ-11).
Micro-B USB Connection
Connect the EX-1280C to a PC using the Micro-B USB port, to use soft codecs with stereo input and output.
5. Connect AmpLink-Enabled Amplifier
If using a Bose AmpLink-enabled amplifier, connect the EX-1280C’s AmpLink output to the amplifier’s AmpLink
using a shielded CAT 5 cable.
CAUTION: Shielded EIA/TIA 568B straight CAT 5 cable, or equivalent, is required for proper AmpLink operation.
Unshielded cable is not supported and may cause AmpLink audio to operate improperly.
The EX-1280C transmits on the first 8-channels of AmpLink. Select the corresponds channels on the amplifier
using the amplifiers rear panel switch settings.
6. Make Remote Control Connections
The EX-1280C conferencing processor provides an RS-485 port (CC-16) for connecting compatible Bose®
controllers, and a RS-232 port (SERIAL) for connecting other industry-standard control systems.
CC-16 Port
Use the CC-16 port on the rear panel to connect a Bose ControlSpace CC-16 controller. Complete the RS-485
network connection using the included 3-pin Euroblock connector. For more information on how to wire these
connections, see the CC-16 installation guide available at pro.Bose.com.
You can network up to fifteen (15) CC-16 zone controllers to control the EX-1280C or any device on the Bose
ControlSpace control network. An external power supply is required. Note that in addition to wiring the A and
B terminals, it is highly recommended to connect the ground terminal from the EX-1280C to each CC-16 zone
controller. The maximum distance from the EX-1280C to any CC-16 is 610 m (2000 ft).
Serial Port
Connect industry-standard control systems to the EX-1280C using an RS-232 connection to the SERIAL port.
Complete the RS-232 connection using the included 3-pin Euroblock connector.
The 3-pin connector for the EX-1280C corresponds to the pinouts of a DE9 connector as follows:
EX-1280C SERIAL Port DB9 Connector Pinout
Tx Pin 2 (Receive Data)
Rx Pin 3 (Transmit Data)
Gnd Pin 5 (Ground)
