Determination of a substance with a
known melting point

- Grind specimens which have large crystals and
are non-homogeneous, in a mortar, and fill a specimen
tube to a height of about 2 mm.
- Insert the specimen tube in the specimen holder.
- Completely empty the expansion vessel by briefly
twisting it upwards.
- Set the set-point potentiometer (7)to a value about
10° C below the expected meltingpoint and set the
main switch to the ON position.
- Reset the temperature program by pressing the
0- button (3).

- As soon as the oil temperature reaches the value
selected on the set-point potentiometer, press the
button for the required temperature rise; by pressing
the RESET- button, it is possibleto halt the temperature
rise within a given temperature program;the
temperature then drops back to the set value.
- Observemeltingofthespecimenandstorethe
temperatures immediately at the beginning and end of
the melting process by pressing the STO button (5).
- Then call up the measured temperatures by pressing
the RCL button (6) and make a note of them.
NB:
Using the temperature program, it is possible to achieve
a temperaturerise of about 30° C. Switching on the
cooling fan automatically switches off the heater.

Dans le cas d'echantillons se presentant sous forme
de cristaux grossiers ou d'echantillons non homo-
genes, broyer le produit dans un mortier puis le verser
dans un tube d'echantillonsjusqu'Eiune hauteur
d'environ 2 mm.
- Placer le tube dans le support d'echantillons.
- Vider completement le vase d'expansion en le tour-
nant un moment vers le haut.
- Regler le potentiometre de valeur de consigne (7)
environ 10° C en dessus du point de fusion prevu
et enclencher I'interrupteurprincipal.
- Supprimer le programme de temperature en pressant
la touche 0 (3).
Des que la temperature d'huile a atteint la valeur reg-
lee sur le potentiometre, presser la touche correspon-
dant EiI'augmentationde temperature desiree et ob-
server I'echantillon. En pressant la touche RESET, on
peut interrompre la montee de temperature au sein du
programme de temperature; la temperature revient
alors Eila valeur de consigne reglee.
- Observer le debut et la fin de la fusion de I'echantillon
et memoriser immediatement les temperatures
correspondantes en pressant la touche STO.
- Ensuite, rappeier et noter les valeurs mesurees en
pressant la touche RCL (6).
Attention:
Le programmede temperature permet une montee de
temperature d'environ 30° -40° C En enchlenchant le
ventilateur de refroidissement, on coupe automatique-
ment le chauffage.
