Tube amps generally sound best when their power tubes are saturated, or pushed really hard. This is done by simply
turning the amp up really loud, which is not always suitable for every playing situation. For times when you want tube
saturation at a modest volume, the power attenuator becomes very useful.
Setting the POWER ATTENUATOR to 5 W gives the most volume, but also requires that you play loud to achieve
saturation. This is preferable for live performance and band rehearsals, although it may need to be mic’ed through a PA
system as well.
