Overview

The VACTEST PPP 700 D is a vacuum measurement instrument designed for use in packaging applications. It is equipped with a Piezo/Pirani combination sensor, which allows for a broad measuring range from 1.0 x 10⁻² mbar to 1200 mbar (absolute pressure), and from -1060 mbar to +340 mbar (relative pressure). The device is suitable for measuring ambient pressure and can be operated directly under vacuum. It features integrated data logging functionality, allowing it to store multiple measurements and transfer them to a PC via USB or Bluetooth interface for further analysis.

Usage Features:

The VACTEST PPP 700 D is designed for ease of use with a clear menu-driven interface.

  • Handling: The device is operated using an "OK" key and arrow keys. Pressing the "OK" key switches the device on and off, and confirms selections. Arrow keys are used to navigate menus and adjust values.
  • Operating Modes: The device supports "Continuous" (continuous operation) and "Auto-Off" (automatic switch-off) modes. In "Continuous" mode, the device remains powered on without limit, or until an editable maximum operation time has elapsed. In "Auto-Off" mode, the device switches off automatically after a set period to save battery power.
  • Key Lock: A key lock feature prevents unintended inputs or changes. It can be activated by pressing the "Arrow Up" key for more than 3 seconds.
  • Data Logging: The device can log data at specified intervals and stop automatically after a chosen time limit. Data can be saved as absolute or relative pressure.
  • Graph Display: Pressure-over-time diagrams can be displayed on the device screen. Users can zoom the whole curve or roll the curve in a fixed time frame. The y-axis can be displayed in either logarithmic or linear style.
  • Leakage Rate Calculation: The device can calculate leakage rates by entering the internal volume of the vacuum vessel or system.
  • Settings:
    • Sensor Adjustment: Allows for gas type correction (N₂ and dry air are default, but user-defined factors can be set), and adjustment of zero pressure, atmospheric pressure, or relative pressure. A 10-minute warm-up period is recommended before adjusting atmospheric pressure.
    • Transition Mode: For devices with combination sensors, users can set the transition between the two sensors as "Direct" (hard switch-over), "Continuous" (soft transition), or "Dynamic" (automatic transition).
    • Device Settings:
      • Alarm Buzzer: Configurable alarm based on a selected data source (absolute or relative pressure), volume (loudness), and switch mode (switch by value).
      • Max. Operation Time: Sets the maximum operation time in "Continuous" mode, after which the device switches off automatically.
      • Clock: Sets date, time, and time zone.
      • Display: Configures language (English), pressure unit (mbar, Torr, hPa, kPa, psi, inHg), leakage rate unit (mbar l/s, Torr l/s, Pa m³/s, Pa l/s), and pumping speed unit (l/s, m³/h, cfm).
      • Interfaces: Manages USB and Bluetooth connections. USB can be set as a mass storage device (MSD) for data transfer. Bluetooth allows for wireless connection to a PC for data transfer and remote control via VACTEST Explorer software. Bluetooth pairing and connection data can be reset.
  • Device Information: Provides details such as device type, serial number, hardware/firmware version, and free memory.
  • Sensor Information: Displays serial number, operating hours, elapsed time since last zero adjust, degree of wear, and status.
  • File System: Allows formatting the file system of the data memory and deleting all recorded measurements.
  • Factory Defaults: Resets all device parameters to factory settings.
  • VACTEST Explorer Software: A dedicated software for Windows, Linux, and MacOS, available for download from www.buschvacuum.com. It enables plotting, analyzing, and saving measurement curves, comparing multiple plots, exporting data to MS Excel, transferring recorded measurements from the data logger to a PC, automatic calculation of leak rates, and easy configuration of all device parameters.

Maintenance Features:

  • Contamination: The device is susceptible to contamination. If the unit is not prepared for customer repair, defective sensor heads can be exchanged on-site by calibrated replacement sensors. Malfunction due to contamination or wear and tear is not covered by warranty.
  • Cleaning: The unit requires no maintenance. External dirt and soiling can be removed by a damp cloth.
  • Return for Service: When returning the gauge for service, a declaration of contamination and inclusion in the shipment is mandatory.
  • Error and Malfunction Troubleshooting:
    • High measurement error: Possible causes include wear and tear, contamination, or extreme temperature. Correction involves replacing the sensor or sending the unit for repair.
    • Pirani zero adjustment not possible: Measurement error exceeds adjustment range. Correction involves replacing the sensor or sending the unit for repair.
    • Display OR: Pressure over range. Correction is to ensure pressure is within the above range limit.
    • Display UR: Pressure under range. Correction is to ensure pressure is within the below range limit.
  • Disposal: The device and its batteries must be disposed of according to WEEE directive 2012/19/EU and ElectroG. Batteries contain harmful substances like Pb (lead), Cd (cadmium), and Hg (mercury) and must be returned at officially set-up collecting points.
