WARNING!
Turn the electrical power off at the electrical panel
board (circuit breaker or fuse box) and lock or tag the
panel board door to prevent someone from turning
on power while you are working on the heater.
Failure to do so could result in serious electrical
shock, burns, or possible death.
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should
always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and
injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read all instructions and labels before installing this heater.
2. WARNING
A heater has hot and arcing parts inside. Do not install in
areas where gasoline, paint or flammable liquids are stored or
excessive lint or dust are present.
3. WARNING
This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin
touch hot surfaces. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture,
pillows, bedding, papers, clothes and curtains away from heater.
4. To prevent possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in
any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where
openings may become blocked. Heaters must be kept clean of
excessive lint, dirt and debris. (See Maintenance Instructions).
5. Risk of electrical shock. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to
enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an
electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
6. Do not place heater below an electrical convenience receptacle.
7. WARNING
Overheating or fire may occur. Do not install the heater behind
doors.
8. Use extreme caution when any heater is used near children or
invalids and whenever the heater is left operating unattended.
9. WARNING
Do not operate after heater malfunctions or has been dropped
or damaged in any manner.
10. WARNING
Risk of fire. Do not block heater minimum of 12 inches in front
and above, 6 inches on both sides.
11.Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use
not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electrical
shock, or injury to persons.
12.Verify that the electrical supply wires are the same voltage as
the heater. The heater must be grounded to the grounding
screw provided. If you need to install a new circuit or need
additional wiring information, consult a qualified electrician.

Why won't my Cadet Softheat EBHN500 Electric Heater shut off?
    • R
      robert06Jul 31, 2025
If your Cadet Electric Heater won't shut off, it could be due to several reasons. First, the heat loss from the room might be greater than the heater's capacity; in this case, close doors and windows, provide additional insulation, or consider installing a higher-wattage heater. Second, the thermostat may be defective. Try adjusting it to its lowest setting and wait two minutes; if the heater continues to run, replace the thermostat. Finally, the thermostat might be wired incorrectly to the heater. Refer to the thermostat documentation and correct the wiring.

What to do if my Cadet Softheat EBHN500 Electric Heater is not working?
    • C
      Clarence SmithAug 5, 2025
If your Cadet Electric Heater is not working, it may be due to a few reasons. First, the heater might not be receiving the proper voltage to function correctly. Check the circuit breaker to ensure it is positioned correctly and relocate it if necessary. Also, verify the voltage at the heater between the supply wires to ensure it matches the required heater voltage. Second, the unit might be wired incorrectly. Verify that the wires are connected properly and securely using the appropriate wire nuts, referring to the Owner’s Guide. If it's still not working, consult an electrician to conduct further testing with an ohmmeter.

Why does my Cadet Electric Heater not heat the room quickly?
    • V
      vdaviesAug 11, 2025
If your Cadet Electric Heater is taking a long time to heat the room, it could be due to a couple of reasons. Initially, it's normal for the unit to take 30-60 minutes to warm up. However, if it persists, the unit might be wired incorrectly. Check the voltage at the heater between the supply wires and make sure it matches the required heater voltage.
