Digital Zoom
With the combined optical and digital zoom functions, images can be zoomed as
follows.
4.0 times, 5.7 times, 7.1 times, 8.9 times, 11 times, and 14 times

Press the button to turn the LCD monitor on.

Turn the mode dial to any shooting mode except for or .

In the [ (Rec.)] menu, select [Digital
Zoom].
See Selecting Menus and Settings (p. 42).

Select [On] and press the button.

Press the zoom lever toward and hold
it.
The lens will zoom to the maximum optical
telephoto setting and stop. Release the lever and
press it toward
again to further zoom the
image digitally.
Slide the lever toward
to zoom back out.

Shoot the image.
Shooting procedures are the same as for the
mode (p. 51).

The digital zoom cannot be used when the LCD monitor is off or with the RAW
file format.

Some settings are not available with certain Shooting modes. Please refer to
Functions Available in Each Shooting Mode (p. 204).
Images become coarser the more they are digitally zoomed.
The combined
magnifications of the
optical zoom and digital
zoom are displayed.
