Overview

The "Bio 90" is a bio-shredder designed for professional use, specifically for chopping vegetables, foliage, and natural wood. It can also be used for cutting peat and similar materials, but it is not suitable for chopping other products. The machine is powered by a petrol engine and is designed for operation by a single user.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: Bio 90 B
  • Power: Available in 9 HP / 6.7 kW and 13 HP / 9.6 kW versions.
  • Supply: Petrol
  • Production Capacity: Approximately 10 m³/h (data depending on the quality of material to be chopped and feeding speed).
  • Overall Dimensions:
    • Breadth: 1440 mm
    • Length: 755 mm
    • High: 1385 mm
  • Weight: Approximately 112 kg
  • Noise Level (LWA MAX): 104 dB
  • Maximum Material Diameter for Upper Hopper: 7 cm

Usage Features:

The Bio 90 is delivered partially dismantled and can be arranged on pallets for easier handling and transport. When transporting, it is crucial to use a transpallet or similar equipment with a load capacity of around 150 kg. Users should avoid hoisting the bio-chopper with ropes or unsuitable hoists, dragging it, exposing it to bumps or shocks, or leaving it in rain, frost, or bad weather. Upon delivery, it is important to check for any damage or deformities and ensure the contents match the delivery note. Any issues should be reported immediately to the carrier or authorized dealer.

Before operation, the machine must be assembled according to the provided figures (3-5). The operator must read and fully understand the instruction manual to ensure correct and safe use. The machine should only be operated by individuals over 16 years of age who have been trained.

Starting the Engine (Petrol Version):

  1. Ensure the bio-chopper is on a stable surface, free from animals or unauthorized persons.
  2. Check that there is sufficient oil and fuel in the tank.
  3. Set the selector to position "I" (Start) (Fig. 8).
  4. Grasp the starting knob (Fig. 9) and pull the cord gently until resistance is felt due to compression.
  5. Release the knob and then give a sharp tug to start the engine.
  6. Allow the engine to idle for approximately 1 minute before taking it to maximum revs (using the accelerator lever) for normal use.

Loading Material:

Trimming and foliage should be loaded into the upper loading hopper, considering the available power of the specific model (Fig. 10). The material fed into this hopper must not exceed 7 cm in diameter. It is critical to never put hands and arms into the hopper to push material.

Safety Precautions:

  • The operator is responsible for keeping third parties, children, and domestic animals away from the work area while the machine is running.
  • Work should always be carried out in adequate light.
  • Before starting, ensure all prescribed guards are in place.
  • Wear protective gloves and goggles during operation.
  • Never use the bio-chopper in closed environments due to the danger of intoxication from fumes.
  • If the blades experience heavy shock or function abnormally, immediately stop the engine, remove the spark plug hood, and seek expert advice.
  • The blades continue to turn for a few seconds after the ignition is switched off.
  • Do not use the bio-chopper in the rain.
  • Position the bio-chopper on a flat, solid surface to prevent overturning.
  • Always switch off the motor, remove keys from the start panel, and remove the spark plug cap (or disconnect from the tractor PTO for electric models) before removing foreign bodies, transporting the machine, carrying out maintenance, cleaning, or leaving the machine unattended.
  • Only use original spare parts supplied by the manufacturer for assembly and repairs.
  • Never use the chopper with defective guards, protection, or missing safety devices.
  • When the engine is functioning, prevent anyone from approaching the loading hopper and discharger.

Fuel Safety:

  • Fuel is highly flammable. Store it only in appropriate containers.
  • Refuel only in the open air. Do not smoke or use naked flames during refueling.
  • Fill the tank before starting the engine. Never open the fuel cap or add petrol while the engine is running or hot.
  • If petrol is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine. Move the machine away from the affected area and eliminate all ignition sources until fuel vapors have dispersed.
  • Always tighten the fuel tank cap securely.

Maintenance Features:

All maintenance operations must be performed with the engine/motor off, ensuring no possibility of the machine functioning. Suitable gloves are mandatory for all maintenance tasks.

Routine Maintenance Schedule:

Task Beginning of season Before each job End of season
Check engine oil level
Check screws, tightness, casing, hopper, etc.
Check wear on cutters
Check wear on blade
Check wear on counter-blade
Check hopper rubber protection
Clean machine

Replacing the Chipping Blade (Fig. 11):

  1. Unscrew the screws.
  2. Remove the old blade and replace it with a new one.
  3. Fit and tighten the central and end screws.

Replacing the Cutting Elements (Blade TR 3) (Fig. 12):

  1. Unscrew the screws.
  2. Replace the knives, ensuring they are positioned correctly for proper balancing.
  3. Fit and tighten the screws.

Replacing the Counter Blade (Fig. 13, Fig. 14):

  1. Remove the side hopper by unscrewing the 7 nuts.
  2. Unscrew the security nuts of the counter blade to remove it.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • Bio-chopper does not start: Check cutters, blade, counter-blade, and material in the milling chamber. Consult the engine/motor instruction manual.
  • Difficult start-up or loss of power: Consult the engine/motor instruction manual.
  • Bio-chopper loses revs and functions irregularly: Check cutters, blade, counter-blade, and material in the milling chamber. Check the sieve for blockages. Consult the engine/motor instruction manual. Examine the material being chopped at the moment of breakdown.
  • Excessive vibration: Check cutters, blade, counter-blade, and material in the milling chamber.
  • Drop in quantity of output material: Check cutters, blade, counter-blade, and material in the milling chamber. Check the sieve for blockages.
  • Material rejected by hopper or does not feed smoothly: Check cutters, blade, counter-blade, and material in the milling chamber. Check the state of wear on the hopper rubber protection.

Warranty:

The manufacturer guarantees the BIO-SHREDDERS against breakage caused by faulty materials or workmanship for 12 months from the date of purchase/delivery for the first owner. The warranty covers free replacement of defective components but does not cover labor, consumables, or transport charges. It is invalidated by misuse, insufficient maintenance, unauthorized modifications, or the use of non-original parts. Claims must be submitted in writing to the manufacturer, with the machine returned to the seller or authorized importer, along with the guarantee or bill.
