GENERAL

These installation instructions are for the wall mounting of

the TEMP system thermostat 33CSTM(T)-01, the VVTt sys-

tem monitor thermostat 33CSVM(T)-04/16/32, the VVT sys-

tem zone controller 33CSZC--01, and the VVT system by-

pass controller 33CSBC--00. See Fig. 1 and 2.

  If your Carrier Thermostat only allows Heat or Off modes in 2-pipe installations, even when chilled water is available, the changeover sensor may be faulty, improperly wired, or improperly installed. To resolve this: * Confirm proper wiring and placement of the changeover sensor. * If wiring and placement are correct, check the changeover sensor with an ohmmeter: 1. Remove power from the fan coil system. 2. Disconnect wiring between the sensor and the thermostat. 3. Place an ohmmeter between R and the wire just disconnected from the thermostat. 4. The sensor should show continuity whenever the water temperature is at or below 65 F. If the sensor is open when the water temperature is at or below 65 F, replace the sensor.

  If your Carrier Thermostat isn't cooling, select COOL mode and decrease the cooling set point to 10 degrees below room temperature. Simultaneously press the Fan and Up buttons to disable any timers. Check for 24 vac at the Y/Y2 terminal. If voltage is present, the thermostat is operating correctly, and the problem is with the wiring or equipment. If 24 vac is not present, replace the thermostat.

  The 'E2' error on your Carrier Thermostat indicates a brownout condition or that the voltage is too low for the thermostat to operate. Check the wiring and ensure there is 24 vac at the R and C terminals. The E2 error will clear 15 seconds after acceptable power levels are restored.

  If, when using 4 wires (R, G, W, Y), the heating equipment tries repeatedly to turn on but cannot with your Carrier Thermostat, it means there isn't enough power available. To fix this, connect a 270-ohm, 10-watt power resistor at the air-conditioning equipment between terminals Y and C (non-heat pump applications only).
