Inspection
1. Inspect the top cap assembly, 1, for excessive
play in bearings, bearing damage, and gear tooth
damage.
2. Inspect the lower module assembly, 2, for
evidence of damage to pinion gear teeth or
excessive shaft movement in any direction.
If the top cap assembly is damaged, but the lower
module assembly is not, the lower module should
be flushed out to remove any contaminants.
a. Remove the skid shoe by removing the two
cap screws, 1, at the rear of the module. Tip
the rear of the skid shoe down and slide it
rearward out of the rock guard.
b. Drain the oil out of the module by removing the
drain plug, 1. After the oil has drained, flush
out the lower module with a cleaning solvent.
c. Reinstall the drain plug and skid shoe, and
pour 300 ml (10 oz) of Case Akcela 135 H EP
80W90 gear oil through the top opening into
the lower module.
