OVERRUNNING CLUTCH
Disassembly
1. Disassemble the twist lock by removing the snap
ring, 1, and sliding off the collar, 2. Spread the
open ends of the inner cover until it can be
removed from the overrunning hub.
2. Remove the large internal snap ring, 1, from the
outer overrunning clutch hub, and slide the inner
hub assembly, 2, out of the overrunning clutch.
Remove the seal ring, 3, and spread the ends of
the bushing, 4, to remove it from the hub.
3. Remove the pawls, 5, and springs from the inner
hub; note that the notched side faces of the pawls
face the shoulders in the outer hub of the
overrunning clutch.
Assembly
1. Apply grease to the outer and inner hubs of the
overrunning clutch, springs and pawls. Install the
springs and pawls on the inner hub with the
notched side faces, 1, positioned outwards.
Squeeze the pawls inwards, and slide the
assembly into the outer overrunning hub.
