Dieselrequirements.
Therearesomeadditionalrequirementsthatwillhaveasignicanteffectontheserviceperiodandoperational
lifespan.Whenselectingfuel,pleasebesuretocomplywiththefollowingrequirements.
•
Sulfurcontent:below350ppm.
•
HFRR(*):lessthan460µm.
•
Watercontent:lessthan0.05wt%
(*)HFRR:ameasurementofthefuel'slubricity.Thesulfurcontentwillreactwithmoistureandbecomesulfuricacid
aftercombustion.Usingafuelwithahighsulfurcontentwillincreasethespeedofcorrosionandabrasionofinternal
parts.Additionally,thehighsulfurcontentwillspeedupthedeteriorationoftheengineoil,reduceitsabilitytoclean
anddispersedirt,andthusacceleratethewearandtearofslidingparts.HFRRisameasurementofthefuel'slubricity.
Ahighervalueindicatesthatthefuel'slubricityislower.Whenusingthiskindoffuel,themachinepartswillseize.
FuelwithahighHFRRhasalowviscosityandsoismorelikelytoleak.Iffuelismixedwithengineoil,thatoilwill
bediluted,causingitslubricitytodeteriorate,andleadinginturntoacceleratedwearandtear.Thewatercontentwill
causetheinsideofthefueltanktorust,pluggingthefuellineandfuellter.Thiswillleadtoenginewearandtearand
seizing.Whentheatmospherictemperatureislowerthanthefreezingpoint,thewatercontentofthefuelwillformice
grains,pluggingthefuelline.Pleaseobtainananalysisofthefuelfromthesuppliertoensurethatthefuelactually
conformstotheabovestandards.
Precautions
Ifthefuelforthedieselenginecannotsatisfythespecicationandrequirements,theenginewillnothavethefunction-
alityandperformancethatitshouldhave.Additionally,youmustnotusethissortoffuel.Otherwise,enginefailure
oraccidentswillbeproduced.Andbreakdownsthatresultfromtheuseofaninadequatefuelarenotinsured.Some
fuelisdieselenginefuelmixedwithengineoilandadditives.Insuchcircumstances,thatfuelcannotbeused.Thisis
becausethefueliscontaminated,andusingitwilldamagetheengine.Ifthefuelusedcannotsatisfythespecications
andrequirements,thethree-stageemission-controllimitscannotbemet.Pleaseusethestipulatedfueltoobserve
emissionscontrols.
Fuelstorage
Longstoragecanleadtotheaccumulationofimpuritiesandcondensationinthefuel.Enginetroublecanoftenbe
tracedtothepresenceofwaterinthefuel.Thestoragetankmustbeplacedoutsideandthetemperatureofthefuel
shouldbekeptaslowaspossible.Drainoffwaterandimpuritiesregularly.
Biodieselfuel
Fattyacidmethylestersbiodiesel(biodieselfuel)consistsofafamilyoffuelsderivedfromvegetableoilswithmethyl
esters.
NOTICE:biodieselfuelblendsareapprovedforyourengineonlyiftheycomplywithEN14214SpecicationStandards
orASTMD6751.
NOTICE:alwayscheckwithyourCASECONSTRUCTIONdealeraboutwhetherablendisapprovedtobeusedin
thisengine.Notethatifbiodieselfuelisusedthatdoesnotmeettheabovestandards,itmaycauseseriousdamage
totheengineofthismachineandtoitsfuelsystem.Iffuelthatisnotpermittedisused,theCASECONSTRUCTION
warrantymaybeinvalidated.
