I. Elementary Surveillance Ground Test:
(1) A squat switch is necessary to bypass the WOW logic to put aircraft systems in “AIR” mode.
(2) To conduct transmit and receive tests, one IFR ATC-601 test set (upgraded to test
Elementary/Enhanced Surveillance capability) and one ATC-201 TCAS test set will be
necessary.
(3) With avionics power on, place the FMS in DEMO mode and enter a ight plan into the FMS.
(4) Enter the Flight ID, 01560649, into the RMU 1 ATC/TCAS Control Page. (The ATC/TCAS
control page is displayed by pushing the line select key adjacent to the ATC/TCAS annunciator
on the page menu.)
(5) Set the Mode A code on the RMU 1 to 1200.
(6) Set the Pilot Baro Altimeter to 29.92 In Hg.
(7) Begin to simulate a resolution advisory situation with the ATC-201 TCAS test unit.
J. Aircraft Identication:
(1) Set the ATC–601 Ramp Test Unit to the Flight ID Test.
(2) Record the Aircraft ID and Flight ID received by the test set in Table 2.
(3) Change the value for Flight I
D to 02560649 and verify that the new value for Flight ID is
transmitted within 5 seconds.
(4) Record the results and pass/fail of the 5-second change in Table 2.
K. Pressure Altitude:
(1) Set the ATC-601 Ramp Test Unit to the ATCRBS Reply Test.
(2) Record the aircraft pressure altitude and Mode A code received by the test set in Table 2
L. Capability Report:
(1) Set the ATC–601 to the Data Link Capability Report.
(2) Make sure that a capability report is being transmitted and record the status of parameters:
XPDR Level, SI Capability, Aircraft ID Capability, Squitter Capability, and Comm Use GICB
Report received by the test set.
