NOTE: Bearing err
or equals the heading to the TCAS test antenna less the relative bearing of
intruder. Relative bearing to the intruder should be a positive number measured clockwise
fromnorthonthetrafcdisplay.
NOTE: The largest acceptable TCAS II bearing error is ± 15°, except between 13 and 22
(aft of the wings) where the error may be greater. If either antenna fails outside the 15°
requirements, bearing error information will have to be taken and stored in the conguration
module (in an effort to reduce airframe induced bearing error).
NOTE: The bottom TCAS II antenna bearing accuracy test may necessary a change to the
COMPASS HEADING(S) listed in Table II. For example a 0 degree compass heading for the
test antenna may generate a bearing error greater than 20°, thus not meeting the stated
requirements. The test antenna will have to be moved to another heading with line of site to
the antenna, for example 15°. Record the replaced compass heading in the blank column of
Table II and base the error off the replaced test antenna compass heading. (The signicant
errors observed on the bottom antenna at certain compass headings are created by the
landing gear and doors being in the “line of sight” between the test antenna and the bottom
TCAS II antenna.)
N. Circuit Breaker Operation Assurance:
(1) Make sure that the applicable circuit breaker labeled TCAS on the circuit breaker panel does
in fact supply power to the equipment and no other. Pull the applicable circuit breaker and
check for the above condition.
O. No Altitude Reporting Test:
(1) This will test the display of an intruder that is non-altitude reporting (NAR). Refer to Step
12J for conguration of the IFR TCAS-201 ramp test set with the exception of the altitude
reporting section. Set altitude reporting to OFF and initiate the intruder test scenario. No
altitude number or trend arrow should appear beside any intruder that is NAR. Make sure
of this o n the MFD/PFD.
