The first step in removing the lower front panel metalwork is to remove the fader knobs,
as described previously. The arm rest should also be first removed.
Once these have been removed, the four securing screws in the lower front panel can be
removed using either a 2.5mm hex key/ball driver on Pro series style consoles, or old
Expert consoles may require a PZ2 screwdriver. There is also a securing screw between
fader 10 and the crossfade fader which can be removed with a PZ1 screwdriver.
It is possible to remove the metal panel without causing damage to the end cheeks. This
is more important on older consoles with wooden end cheeks. To do this, push the right
end cheek out as far as possible with one hand, while lifting up the panel on the right
hand side with the other. If done gently, this will avoid scratching to the end cheek. The
front panel metalwork should simply lift out of the right hand side. On newer consoles
with plastic end cheeks, these can be loosened first if required.
The front panel metalwork should be stored safely to prevent damage to it.
When replacing the panels, ensure they are pushed as far to the right as possible to
allow the free movement of every button. It may take several attempts to position it so
that all buttons have free movement.
