What to do if my Char-Broil 12701705 Smokers burner won't light?
    • T
      Terrance SandersAug 17, 2025
If the burner on your Char-Broil Smoker won't light using the ignitor, make sure the LP cylinder isn't empty. If it isn't, the issue might be a sudden drop in gas flow. Also, ensure the coupling nut and LP cylinder valve are fully connected. If not, turn off the knobs, disconnect the coupling nut, reconnect it, and try again. You may also try tightening the coupling nut approximately one-half to three-quarters additional turn until solid stop. Remember to tighten by hand only, without using tools.

      Matthew JonesAug 19, 2025
If the burner on your Char-Broil Smoker won't light using the ignitor, the electrode tip might not be in the proper position. The tip of the electrode should point toward the gas port opening on the burner, with a distance of 1/8” to 1/4”. Adjust if necessary. Also, the distance may be 1/8” to 3/16”.

Why is my Char-Broil Smoker flaring up?
    • W
      wandathompsonAug 28, 2025
Flare-ups in Char-Broil Smokers often result from grease buildup. To resolve this, clean the burner and the inside of the fryer body. Also, excessive fat in the meat can cause flare-ups; trim the fat before grilling. Finally, adjust the temperature, lowering it if it's too high.

What to do if Char-Broil Smoker has sudden drop in gas flow?
    • D
      Diana JordanAug 30, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or low flame in your Char-Broil Smoker can be due to several reasons. First, check if the LP cylinder is out of gas. If not, the excess flow valve may have tripped; turn off the knob, wait 30 seconds, and try lighting the fryer again. If the flames remain low, turn off both the knob and the LP cylinder valve, disconnect the regulator, reconnect it, perform a leak test, turn on the LP cylinder valve, wait 30 seconds, and then light the fryer. A vapor lock at the coupling nut/LP cylinder connection could also be the cause; turn off the knob and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the coupling nut from the cylinder, reconnect it, and try again.

Why do the flames blow out on my Char-Broil Smoker?
    • J
      Julian RobertsonSep 2, 2025
If the flames on your Char-Broil Smoker are blowing out, it could be due to a couple of reasons. You might be low on LP gas, so try refilling the LP cylinder. Alternatively, the excess flow valve may have tripped; in this case, refer to the instructions for a sudden drop in gas flow.

What to do if Char-Broil Smoker has persistent grease fire?
    • T
      Thomas SavageSep 5, 2025
If you're experiencing a persistent grease fire in your Char-Broil Smoker, it's likely due to grease trapped by food buildup around the burner system. To address this, turn the knob to OFF, turn off the gas at the LP cylinder, and let the fire burn out. Once the fryer has cooled down, remove and clean all the parts.

What causes flashback fire in burner tube of Char-Broil Smoker?
    • S
      Sherry JonesSep 7, 2025
If you're experiencing a flashback (fire in the burner tube) with your Char-Broil Smoker, it indicates that the burner and/or burner tube is blocked. To resolve this, turn the knob to OFF and clean the burner and/or burner tube. Consult the burner cleaning section of the Use and Care guide for detailed instructions.

    Heather OrtizSep 12, 2025
Why is my Char-Broil Smoker cooking slower than expected?
    • R
      ravengoodSep 12, 2025
If your Char-Broil Smoker is cooking slower than expected, high wind conditions could be the cause; relocate the cooker to a less windy area. Also, vapor lock can cause that; turn off the knob and disconnect the coupling nut from the LP cylinder, then reconnect and retry. Finally, the valve may not be properly aligned to the burner; loosen the control panel and valve, ensure the valve is centered top to bottom and left to right in the burner tube, and then tighten all components once proper alignment is achieved.
