Char-Broil 14101550 Grill igniter not working: what could be the reasons?
    • R
      Rachel HardingSep 13, 2025
Several factors can prevent your Char-Broil Grill igniter from working. These include: * Gas issues: The burner might not be engaged with the control valve; there could be an obstruction in the burner; there might be no gas flow; there could be a vapor lock at the coupling nut; or the coupling nut and LP cylinder valve might not be fully connected. * Electrical issues: The electrode might be cracked or broken; the electrode tip might not be in the proper position; the wire and/or electrode might be covered with cooking residue; the wire might be loose or disconnected; or the wire might be shorting between the ignitor and electrode. To troubleshoot, check each of these potential causes.

How to fix Char-Broil 14101550 burner that won't light with ignitor?
    • R
      russellkimNov 16, 2025
If the burner won't light on your Char-Broil Grill when using the ignitor, there could be several reasons related to gas or electrical issues. * First, ensure the burner is correctly engaged with the control valve and that there are no obstructions in the burner, such as spider webs. Clean if necessary. * Second, check that your LP cylinder isn't empty. If it's not empty, there may be a vapor lock – try disconnecting and reconnecting the coupling nut. Also, ensure the coupling nut and LP cylinder valve are fully connected, tightening it by hand until you reach a solid stop. * Third, inspect the electrode for cracks or improper positioning. The tip should point towards the gas port opening, about 1/8” to 1/4” away. Clean any cooking residue from the wire and electrode with rubbing a...

Why won't the burner light on my Char-Broil 14101550 Grill using the ignitor?
    • M
      Michael FoxNov 19, 2025
There are several reasons why the burner on your Char-Broil Grill might not light with the ignitor. Possible gas issues include the burner not being engaged with the control valve (make sure the valve is positioned inside the burner), an obstruction in the burner (ensure it's free of spider webs or other matter), no gas flow (check if the LP cylinder is empty and refer to 'Sudden drop in gas flow' if it isn't), vapor lock at the coupling nut to the LP cylinder (turn off the knob, disconnect, reconnect, and retry), or the coupling nut and LP cylinder valve not being fully connected (tighten by hand until snug, but don't use tools). Electrical issues could involve a cracked or broken electrode (replace it), the electrode tip not being in the proper position (adjust it to point toward the gas...

How to fix Char-Broil 14101550 Grill igniter that won't light burner?
    • R
      randywilliamsNov 22, 2025
If the igniter on your Char-Broil Grill isn't lighting the burner, start by checking the gas supply. Ensure the burner is correctly engaged with the control valve. Look for obstructions in the burner, such as spider webs. Make sure your LP cylinder isn't empty. If gas flow seems problematic, try disconnecting and reconnecting the coupling nut to the LP cylinder to resolve potential vapor lock issues. Ensure the coupling nut is securely connected to the LP cylinder valve, tightening it by hand. If gas isn't the issue, inspect the igniter's electrical components. Replace any cracked or broken electrodes. Position the electrode tip properly, ensuring it points towards the gas port opening on the burner at a distance of 1/8” to 1/4”. Clean any cooking residue from the wire and/or electrode usi...
