The Chase Card Reader and Base is a versatile mobile card reader designed for various payment transactions, offering both portability and a countertop charging solution. This installation guide outlines its features, usage, and maintenance.
The Chase Card Reader is a compact device with a touch display and NFC area for contactless payments. It also includes a magnetic stripe reader and a smart card reader to accommodate different card types. A power button is located on the device for easy power control. The reader is designed to be mobile, allowing for flexible use in various environments.
For charging, the device utilizes a pogo pin to USB-C charging cable. The Card Reader Charging Base serves as a countertop charging solution, providing a stable and convenient place to power the reader. The base comes with a 6.5ft (2m) power cable and a 5V/2A power adapter. A base holder plate is also included for secure installation of the charging base.
Before initial use, it is crucial to charge the device for 12 hours. If the unit has been stored for over three months without charging, ensure it is fully charged. The battery life is dependent on usage patterns, and the manufacturer recommends replacing the battery every two years.
To power on the reader, press the power key for more than 3 seconds until a beep sound is heard and the display turns on. To power off the device, press the power key for more than 5 seconds.
Payment transactions can be performed using several methods. For contactless payments, tap the card onto the EMV contactless logo on the display. The virtual LED on the display will indicate the payment progress. For smart card transactions, insert the credit card with the ICC chip facing upward into the card slot and push it to the end. For magnetic stripe transactions, swipe the credit card with the magnetic stripe facing up, bi-directionally across the device.
The device also features a replaceable battery. To open the battery cover for replacement or to access the SAM card slot, use a finger or a pen point to push the battery cover to the right side, releasing it from the reader body. The battery pack and SAM card slot are located inside. A reset key is also available internally.
The Card Reader Charging Base has a power LED (blue) to indicate its status, a charging connector, a secure screw, and a T-pin indicator. The bottom view of the charging base reveals a USB-C power connector, a base holder slot, a base holder anchor positioning hole, a secure screw (to keep the Chase Card Reader on the Charging Base), a power cable slot, and a base holder plate.
To place the reader on the base, align the smart card slot of the reader with the LED light guide of the Charging Base. Gently press the reader onto the Charging Base, ensuring that the T-pin and the charging Pogo pin contacts of the Charging Base connect properly with the reader.
To secure the reader to the base, turn over the assembled unit and locate the secure screw. Use a one-cent US dollar coin or a screwdriver to lock the device.
For installing the base to a surface, first peel off the adhesive tape overlay from the bottom of the Base Holder Plate and place the mounting kit on a clean table surface. Then, align the Base holder with the anchor positioning pin and place the Charging Base on top of the Base Holder Plate. The "FRONT" of the base refers to the LED light guide, which should face the customer. Push the Charging Base from the front side to fix it with the Base Holder. To remove the Base from the desktop, pull it back.
To plug in the base, use the provided 6.5ft (2m) power cable to connect the base to the 5V/2A power adapter. Locate the L-shaped plug and insert it into the bottom of the base. It is important to use the L-shaped plug correctly; using a straight plug directly into the base is an incorrect method. The straight plug should be inserted into the power adapter.
The device is designed for ease of use and maintenance, ensuring a smooth experience for both merchants and customers.
