Preparations For Jacking
Park the vehicle on a firm, level sur-
face. Avoid steep, icy, or slippery ar-
eas.
Set the parking brake firmly. For a
manual transaxle equipped vehicle,
place the transaxle in NEUTRAL.
Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
Turn off the engine.
Put wheel blocks at the front and rear
of the tire diagonally opposite the tire
being changed. For example, if chang-
ing the right front tire, block the left
rear wheel.
WARNING!
Do not attempt to change a tire on the
side of the road close to moving traf-
fic. Pull far enough off the road to
avoid the danger of being hit when op-
erating the jack or changing the tire.
Jacking Instructions

Turn the wheel nuts counterclockwise
while the wheel is still on the ground.

that is closest to the flat tire. T urn the
jack screw clockwise to firmly engage
