Overview

The Citronic D1000 is a Class-D power amplifier designed for sound reinforcement systems, offering an efficient and lightweight solution.

Function Description:

The D1000 amplifier features a Class-D circuit design, providing high efficiency within a compact 1U rack-mountable form factor. It operates in three distinct modes:

  • STEREO Mode: This is the standard operating mode where each input feeds its respective speaker output (Channel A to output A, Channel B to output B).
  • PARALLEL Mode: In this mode, both inputs are summed together in mono, and each amplifier channel receives a mix of both inputs.
  • BRIDGE Mode: This mode combines both channels to drive a single load at higher power. The input is taken from Channel A, and the output is delivered via the dedicated BRIDGE output SPK connector.

The amplifier includes various controls and indicators for precise operation and monitoring:

  • Front Panel Controls: Power on/off switch, CH.A and CH.B output level controls.
  • Rear Panel Controls: Input SENSITIVITY switch (0.775V / 1.00V / 1.44V), Amplifier MODE switch (Bridge / Stereo / Parallel), 75Hz LOW CUT filter on/off switch, GROUND Lift switch.
  • Indicators: POWER on indicator, POWER PROTECT indicator, SIGNAL present indicators (for each channel), AUDIO PROTECT indicator, Audio LIMIT indicators (for each channel), and Amplifier operating mode LEDs.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: 200-240Vac, 50/60Hz (IEC)
  • Fuse: T10AL 250V
  • Output RMS Power:
    • 2 x 500W @ 4Ω
    • 2 x 300W @ 8Ω
  • Bridge Power RMS: 1000W @ 8Ω
  • Amplifier Construction: Class-D
  • Protection: Short/open circuit, thermal, RF, DC fault, on/off mute, active inrush limiting.
  • Frequency Response: 20Hz-20KHz ±0.5dB
  • THD +N: 0.20%
  • S/N Ratio: -95dB
  • Damping Factor: >700
  • Input Sensitivity: 0.775V – 1.00V – 1.44V switchable
  • Input Impedance: 20KΩ (balanced), 10KΩ (unbalanced)
  • Dimensions: 482 x 245 x 44 mm (1U)
  • Weight: 4.2kg

Usage Features:

  • Speaker Connections: Connect speaker cabinets to channel outputs (18, 20) using Speakon® leads. All speaker outputs are wired to pins 1+/1-.
    • Load Impedance: A single 8Ω or 4Ω speaker can be connected to each channel, or two 8Ω speakers in parallel (resulting in a 4Ω load). The combined load on either channel must not be lower than 4Ω.
    • BRIDGE Mode Load: The minimum load for BRIDGE mode is 8Ω.
  • Input Connections: Connect signal inputs from a mixer or other line-level source to the CH.A and CH.B inputs (16) on the rear panel using good quality signal leads (XLR balanced/unbalanced).
    • Link Outputs: Each channel input has a corresponding XLR link output (14) for linking to further amplifiers. XLR inputs and link outputs are wired in parallel, allowing signal cascading.
  • Sensitivity Control: The SENSITIVITY switch (11) offers three settings (0.775V, 1.00V, 1.44V) to match different input levels. Higher settings reduce input sensitivity.
  • Low Cut Filter: A 75Hz LOW CUT filter switch (13) removes frequencies below 75Hz, preventing wasted power in full-range cabinets.
  • Ground Lift: The GROUND switch (15) isolates the signal ground from mains Earth, which can help eliminate mains hum caused by Earth loop connections.
  • Soft-Start Function: The unit includes a "soft-start" function that performs internal checks before engaging power to the amplifiers, which may take a few seconds.
  • Output Level Control: CH.A and CH.B controls (5, 9) adjust the output level for each channel.
  • Audio Limiter: An inbuilt audio limiter (8) automatically engages when the output reaches peak power levels to prevent speaker overload.
  • Protection Circuitry: Internal protection for the power supply (4) and audio circuitry (7) safeguards the amplifier and connected equipment from faults such as short/open circuits, thermal issues, RF, DC faults, and inrush current. If a PROTECT LED lights up, it indicates a fault, and the amplifier will shut down.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft cloth with a neutral detergent for cleaning the casing. A vacuum cleaner can be used to clear dust and debris from ventilation grilles. Avoid strong solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure cooling vents (2, 17) are clear and unobstructed to maintain adequate airflow and prevent overheating.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as no power, no output, distorted output, and low output level, with suggested solutions.
  • Servicing: No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
  • Disposal: The product is classified as Electrical or Electronic equipment and should be disposed of according to local council guidelines at the end of its useful life.
