CLEANING AND DISINFECTINGNEEDLE SENSOR
WARNING
n Users of this product have an obligation and responsibility to provide the highest degree of infection control
to patients, co-workers and themselves. To avoid cross-contamination, follow infection control policies
established by your facility.
n The recommended protocol for reprocessing the needle sensor has been evaluated for effectiveness and
compatibility. If choosing to use a reprocessing protocol other than those listed, a validation must first be
completed to ensure effectiveness and compatibility.
n Dispose of single-use components as infectious waste. Clean and sterilize reusable components after each
use.
n Ensure needle sensor does not bend during cleaning and disinfecting.
n Do not gas sterilize or autoclave needle sensor.
n Inspect needle sensor for damage such as cracks or breakage. If damage is evident, discontinue use of
needle sensor and contact CIVCO.
1. After each use, remove needle sensor from needle, discarding single-use, disposable components. Remove
visible contaminants from needle sensor surface.
2. Clean and disinfectall surfaces with common germicidal or antiseptic such as Sani-cloth
®
HB, CIDEXOPA
®
(Johnson &Johnson), ENZOL
®
(Johnson &Johnson), T-Spray™, Protex™ or alcohol.
3. Followmanufacturer's directions for all cleaning and disinfection.
