springscontrolledbytwoshockabsorbersmountedbetweenthespringsandthevehicleframe.

SHOCKABSORBERREMOVALANDINSPECTION
1.Checkshockabsorbers(7)fordamageoruidleakageatthepointwheretheshaftenterstheshockabsorber
body.Replacedamagedorleakingshockabsorbers(Figure9-3,Page9-4orFigure9-4,Page9-6).
2.Toremoveashockabsorber,removethenut(5),cupwasher(9)andrubberbushings(10)fromthestemat
thetopoftheshockabsorber.
3.Removethenut(5),cupwasher(9),andrubberbushings(10)fromlowermountingstem.
4.Compresstheshockabsorbertoremoveit.
SHOCKABSORBERINSTALLATION
1.Toinstall,reversetheremovalprocedure.
2.Ontheupperandlowershockabsorbermountingstems,tightenthenutsuntiltherubberbushingexpands
tothesizeofthecupwasher.
