20. Use thecorrect extension leads. If you use extension leads outdoors, only use those designed for outdoor
use. Only use extension leads with thick enough diameter core wires and roll out thewhole lead.
21. Use common sense and be careful. Think before carrying out any task, so that it is carried out safely.
Never operate machines/power tools when you are tired or under theinfluence of medicine.
22. Check thefollowing before turning thetool on:
• That all guards and other parts are whole and in working order.
• That moving parts are free and correctly aligned.
• That no moving parts can get caught.
• That there are no visible defects.
• Other factors that can influence work execution.
23. Use only recommended accessories. The use of accessories which are not recommended by
themanufacturer may present arisk of personal injury.
24. Check that thetool conforms to current safety regulations. Repairs to thetool should only be carried out by
atradesman using original spares; otherwise thetool could cause accidents and personal injury.
Additional safety instructions
• If using afloor stand, make sure that theband saw is securely fastened to thestand and that thestand is
properly assembled and securely fastened to thefloor.
• Make sure that theband saw is positioned in such away that theworkpiece can be worked on in asafe manner.
• This saw must not be used for wet cutting. Doing so can lead to deadly electric shocks. This band saw is
only intended for dry cutting.
• The drive belt must not be put under too much tension; it will last longer if thetension is released when
thesaw is not in use.
• Do not allow thebuild-up of sawdust around themotor or inside themachine. Piles of sawdust are afire hazard.
• The sawblade must not be stopped through theexertion of pressure on theworkpiece or by apply force to
thesides of theblade.
• The machine’s safety guards must be in place and functioning properly. Always check that theblade guides
are correctly aligned.
• Never turn themachine on if thesaw blade is in contact with theworkpiece.
• Make sure that there are no nails or screws in theworkpiece which could damage thesaw blade.
• Do not attempt to modify themachine or its accessories in any way.
• Do not apply too much pressure to theworkpiece when feeding it into thesaw blade. A steady feed
rate reduces wear on thesaw and saw blade and consequently increases theefficiency and useful life of
theband saw. Replace any worn table inserts.
• Connect theband saw to adust extractor before starting to saw. The saw must not be used if any of its
panels is open or if theblade guard is not in place.
• Select an appropriate saw blade and sawing speed for thetype of workpiece.
• When sawing with atilted table, position theguide on thelower side of thetable.
• Position theblade guard as close to theworkpiece as possible.
Saw blade safety
• Use only blades recommended by themanufacturer/supplier.
• Do not use adamaged or deformed saw blade. Doing so could result in considerable danger to theuser
ordamage to themachine.
• The direction marked on thesaw blade should correspond to thedirection of thepulley’s rotation.
• The teeth of theblade should be pointing downwards when theblade is viewed from theside.
