Do you have a question about the Coats CHD-6330 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The device described in the manual is an Electro-Hydraulic Tire Changer designed for medium and large-sized tires, specifically the CHD-6330 model.

Function Description

The CHD-6330 is a robust tire changer primarily used for mounting and demounting tires, including tubeless, supersingle, and tubed tires, as well as tire assemblies with split rims and multi-piece rims. It features an electro-hydraulic system for efficient operation. The machine is designed to handle various tire types and sizes, making it suitable for professional use in workshops. Key operations include rim clamping, bead loosening, demounting, and mounting. The machine incorporates safety features and warning signals to ensure safe operation.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Electric Power Requirement: 220V - 3 PH - 60Hz 15 Amp

  • Shipping Weight: 1,390 lbs (630 kg)
  • Minimum Workspace Dimensions: 88.2x6.3 inches (2,240x 1,640 mm) with a minimum distance from walls as shown in the diagram.
  • Concrete Quality for Installation: Minimum C20/25 (B25) with a minimum pressure resistance of 937 lbs/sqft (425 Kg / cm²).
  • Anchor Bolts: 8 anchor bolts, 0.630 inch (16 mm) diameter, 4.90 inches (125 mm) into the concrete slab.

Usage Features

The CHD-6330 tire changer is operated via a mobile control unit, which allows the user to control various functions such as lifting and lowering the tool carrier arm, moving the spindle, and operating the self-centering chuck.

Key operational steps and features include:

  • Rim Clamping: The machine features a self-centering chuck with jaws that must be properly positioned on the rim to prevent the tire from falling over. It can handle rims up to 56 inches.
  • Bead Loosening: This process involves using a bead breaker disk to loosen the tire bead from the rim. The machine allows for precise positioning of the bead breaker and includes warnings against pressing the disk against the rim before the tire bead is fully detached.
  • Demounting: This involves using a hook tool and the tool carrier arm to remove the tire from the rim. Specific procedures are outlined for different tire types (tubeless, supersingle, tubed, split rim, multi-piece). The mobile control unit is used to move the tool carrier arm to various work positions (A, B, C, D) to facilitate the demounting process.
  • Mounting: The mounting process involves reversing the demounting steps, using the hook tool and g-clamps to secure the tire bead onto the rim. The machine supports mounting both beads simultaneously if the tire permits.
  • Tool Carrier Arm: This arm is crucial for both demounting and mounting, moving to different positions to manipulate the tire. It can be moved to a non-working position when not in use.
  • Sliding Ramp: Facilitates the movement of the tire assembly onto and off the machine.
  • Pedals: Used for various operations, including controlling the self-centering chuck and bead-loosening disk.
  • Safety Features: The machine includes numerous warning labels and instructions to prevent accidents, such as warnings about moving parts, crushing hazards, and the importance of proper electrical hook-up and grounding. It also emphasizes the need for trained and authorized personnel to operate the machine.

Optional Accessories:

  • Tubeless roller (alloy made)
  • Bead lifting guide bar for agricultural tires
  • Pair of g-clamps for bead loosening on tube tires/wheels with rim and additional ring
  • Set of 4 clamp protectors for alloy wheels
  • G-clamp for alloy wheels (wheel contact portion protected by nylon)
  • Set of 4 clamping extensions 47"-56"

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the CHD-6330 tire changer. The manual outlines several key maintenance aspects:

  • Routine Maintenance Schedule: The machine requires periodic cleaning with naphtha.
  • Lubrication:
    • Spindle: Grease the spindle bracket swivel and the grease fittings using ordinary lubricating grease.
    • Hydraulic Power Pack: Check the oil level in the hydraulic power pack via the dipstick under the reservoir cap. Recommended hydraulic oils include Agip OSO 46, Shell Tellus Oil 46, Castrol DTE 25, Castrol Hyspin AWS 46, Chevron RPM EP Hydraulic Oil 46, BP Energol HLP.
    • Gear Unit: Check the oil level in the gear unit. Recommended gear oils include Agip EP 1 REP 237, BP Gear Compound 320, Mobil Gear 632, Shell Omala Oil 320, Castrol Alpha SP 320.
  • Electrical System: Ensure the electrical hook-up is properly grounded and protected against overcurrents with fuses or automatic magneto-thermic switch. Regular checks of the main voltage and gearbox motor rotation are recommended.
  • Warning Labels: Unreadable or missing warning labels must be replaced immediately.
  • Pre-Changer Check: For machines with over 10 years of installation and setting up, a pre-changer check by authorized staff is recommended.
  • Disposal: Used oil from the hydraulic power pack should be disposed of in an approved waste oil container.
  • Storing: If the machine is to be stored for a long time (3-4 months), it should be cleaned, all power sources disconnected, and all parts that could be damaged by dry out (chucks, sliding ramp, tool holder arm, tool, hydraulic fluid reservoirs) should be wrapped in protective plastic. The oil in the reservoirs should be put into the reservoirs again, and the electrical connection should be restored before reuse.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the power plug not inserted, no power from the main electric supply, and the magneto-thermic switch being engaged.
