Overview

The Contixo F19 RC Drone is a mini quadcopter designed for drone application developers, allowing for quick deployment of custom applications. It comes with pre-configured default settings from the factory but offers customization options. The drone is designed and engineered by Contixo, Inc. in Southern California, USA, and manufactured in China. Adult supervision is advised for children, teenagers, and adults operating the drone.

Safety Precautions:

The F19 drone is designed with safety in mind, but proper training and thoughtful operation are crucial. Users should not set up, operate, perform maintenance, or repair the drone without first reading and understanding the manual and labels. The drone owner is responsible for following all setup, operation, and maintenance instructions, keeping safety instructions readily available, and ensuring all operators are properly trained and supervised. It's important to ensure all parts are in place and operating correctly before use. Regular inspection and maintenance with approved replacement parts are also required.

The F19 drone is recommended for indoor use or flying below 16 feet (5m). When flying, avoid obstacles, crowds, high voltage power lines, trees, airports, or water. Do not fly near strong electromagnetic sources like power lines and base stations, as these can affect the onboard compass. The drone should not be used in adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, fog, or high wind speeds. Always stay away from rotating propellers and motors.

Usage Features:

The drone is controlled via a remote control and a dedicated WiFi UAV app.

Remote Control Functions:

The remote control features several buttons and joysticks for various functions:

  • Speed: Adjusts the drone's speed.
  • One-key Flips & Rolls: Initiates acrobatic flips and rolls.
  • Obstacle Avoidance: Activates or deactivates the obstacle avoidance mode.
  • Headless Mode: Toggles headless mode.
  • Left Joystick: Controls altitude and yaw.
  • Right Joystick: Controls forward, backward, left, and right movement.
  • One-key Take Off: Initiates automatic takeoff.
  • Calibrate Gyroscope: Calibrates the drone's gyroscope.
  • One-key Landing: Initiates automatic landing.
  • Fine-tuning Key: Used for fine-tuning adjustments.
  • Power Switch: Turns the remote control on/off.
  • Mobile Phone Holder: Secures a smartphone for app control.

Mobile Phone Installation:

To use the app, open the mobile phone bracket on the remote control and install your smartphone.

Drone Setup:

  1. Opening Steps: Open the front arms (close to the camera) first, then the back arms. When folding, fold the back arms first, then the front arms.
  2. Propeller Installation: Align the blades with the motor shaft and install them, ensuring the arm identification matches the blade identification. Tighten the screws clockwise.
  3. Intelligent Flight Battery: Long-press the button to power on/off the battery. When the battery is low, the power indicator will flash, signaling the need to return and charge the drone to prevent power failures.
  4. Charging the Battery: Remove the lithium battery from the bottom of the drone. Connect the USB charging cable to the battery's charging interface. The LED lights up during charging and turns off when fully charged. The drone can be charged with a travel or car charger (5V/1A adapter not included). A full charge takes about 60-80 minutes, providing approximately 10 minutes of flight time, depending on usage.
  5. Assembling Protective Guard: Align the protective frame with the arm and press it into place. Then, press the designated position to fasten the protective frame.

WiFi UAV App Installation:

Search for "WiFi UAV" in the App Store (for iOS 8.0 or higher) or Google Play Store (for Android 5.0 or higher) and install the application.

Flight Operation:

  1. Turn On Drone & Level Surface: Turn on the drone and place it on a level surface. The drone's lights will start blinking.
  2. Turn On Remote Control & Pair: Press the power button on the remote control. Push the left joystick up then down. Pairing is successful when the drone and remote control lights stop blinking and become steady.
  3. Connect App: Connect your smartphone to the drone's WiFi signal (e.g., "Contixo-F19-XXXX"). Open the "WiFi UAV" app to access the control interface.
  4. Select Control Mode: Click the setting button in the app to choose the control mode (this only affects app control).

Take-off/Landing:

  • Take-off: Press the "1-Key Take-off" button on the remote control or click the corresponding icon in the app.
  • Landing: Press the "1-Key landing" button on the remote control or click the corresponding icon in the app. Once the lights are steady (white in the rear, blue in the front), the drone is ready to fly. Caution: Rotating propellers can be dangerous; do not start motors near people.

3D Roll:

Short press the "3D Roll" button on the remote control and push the direction joystick forward, backward, left, or right. The drone will perform a roll in the corresponding direction. Ensure the drone is about 5 feet off the ground for this function.

Obstacle Avoidance Mode:

Press the obstacle avoidance button on the remote control to turn this mode on or off. In this mode, the drone avoids obstacles on four sides and stops in place when an obstacle is detected, triggering an alarm on the remote controller. It is recommended for indoor flights in spaces of at least 6x6 meters (20x20 feet). When active, the drone's speed will be reduced, and the fast gear cannot be engaged.

Headless Mode:

The drone defaults to Normal Mode after successful pairing. Click the "Headless Mode" button on the remote control to enter or exit Headless Mode, or use the app icon. In Headless Mode, the drone's forward direction is set relative to the pilot's facing direction at the time of pairing, regardless of the drone's rotation in flight. This simplifies control as the pilot doesn't need to reorient based on the drone's heading. It's crucial for the pilot not to change positions or facing direction during Headless Mode to avoid misdirection.

Fine-tuning Function:

If the drone spins or tilts in the air, use the fine-tuning function. Press the fine-tuning button (a beep will sound), then move the joystick in the opposite direction to correct the deviation. The function automatically exits after 5-6 seconds of no operation.

Camera Functions:

  • Take Photo: Tap the camera icon in the app to take a picture.
  • Take Video: Tap the video icon in the app to start recording. Tap it again to save the video. Photos and videos are saved to the phone. Do not take photos while recording video.

Follow Me Mode:

Click the "Follow Me" icon in the app. The camera will automatically recognize a person or human-shaped object. Tap on the desired object or person to track, and the drone will follow it. If multiple people are on screen, you can choose one. If no target is detected, the drone enters "waiting mode." This mode is only available in APP controlled mode.

Gesture Selfie Mode:

Click the "Gesture Selfie" icon in the app.

  • Hold up two fingers to take a picture.
  • Wave your hand or hold up three fingers to begin recording video. There is a 3-second countdown before taking a video or picture. This function requires adequate light; low-light or dimly lit areas may prevent the camera from detecting hand gestures.

Flight Path:

Connect the drone's WiFi to your smartphone and click the "Flight Path" icon in the app. A transparent box will appear on the screen. Mark the desired flight path within this box on the map. The drone will then follow this path. This mode is only available in APP controlled mode.

Palm Follow:

Connect the drone's WiFi to your smartphone and click the "Palm Follow" icon in the app. Place your palm in front of the lens. The drone will automatically recognize your palm's position and follow its movement. This mode is only available in APP controlled mode.

Entertainment Mode:

Click the "Entertainment Mode" icon in the app to access photo effects and composite short videos.

Gravity Control Mode:

Click the "Gravity Control Mode" icon in the app. This mode, available only in APP controlled mode, allows you to control the drone's flying direction by tilting your phone:

  • Tilt phone forward: Drone flies forward.
  • Tilt phone backward: Drone flies backward.
  • Tilt phone left: Drone flies left.
  • Tilt phone right: Drone flies right.

Open the app and click the "Gallery" icon to access your saved picture and video files.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Carefully inspect the drone on a regular basis and perform all required maintenance.
  • Replacement Parts: Service and maintain the drone only with approved replacement parts.
  • Battery Charging: Unplug the battery when fully charged and do not over-charge it. Charging must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues such as the drone not responding, blades spinning but not taking off, drone shaking, or instability during flight. These include recharging the battery, replacing distorted blades, or recalibrating the compass.
