Other mounting configurations are shown in Figures 14 and 15. Figure 14 displays the final configuration when the tripod
head is omitted. Figure 15 shows a configuration in which the cameras are mounted vertically (by mounting the hinge on a
different surface of the aluminum extrusion). Shape and curvature of the test subject will dictate whether cameras should
be mounted vertically or horizontally. Both cameras must see a given feature in order for VIC-3D to obtain a shape for that
feature. Therefore, if a specimen is curved around the vertical axis, a vertical camera mounting is ideal. This will allow for
more data extraction from the specimen.
