How to start a Craftsman WS410 Trimmer when the engine won't start?
    • C
      Colton DennisJul 28, 2025
If your Craftsman Trimmer engine won't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the fuel tank isn't empty by filling it with fresh fuel. If the fuel is older than 30 days, drain the tank and replace it with fresh fuel. Also, make sure you've pressed the primer bulb 10 times. Lastly, a fouled spark plug can prevent starting, so consider replacing it.

      Courtney ThomasAug 2, 2025
If your Craftsman Trimmer engine lacks power or stalls, there are a few things to check. Old fuel (over 30 days) can be a culprit, so drain the tank and add fresh fuel. A dirty air filter can also cause this issue, so clean or replace it. Finally, a fouled spark plug might be the problem, requiring a replacement.

      Ryan WigginsAug 6, 2025
If your Craftsman Trimmer engine won't idle, consider these possible causes: a dirty air filter, which requires cleaning or replacement; old fuel (over 30 days), suggesting you drain the tank and add fresh fuel; or an incorrect idle speed, which needs adjustment.

What to do if the cutting head on my Craftsman WS410 will not advance line?
    • R
      Rodney LeonardAug 12, 2025
If the cutting head of your Craftsman Trimmer won't advance the line, several issues could be the cause. It could be bound with grass, in which case you should stop the engine and clean the cutting head. The cutting head could be out of line, the inner reel could be bound up (clean the inner reel and outer spool), the cutting head could be dirty (open the cutting head and remove the welded section), the line could be welded (rewind the line), or the line could be twisted (stop the unit, push the bump knob and pull the line until 4 inches (102 mm) is outside of the cutting head). It also could be that not enough line is extended.
