WARNING
The smart technology incorporated into the
rear cross traic alert cannot overcome the
limits imposed by the laws of physics; it only
works within the limits of the system. The
parking assistant function should not tempt
you into taking any risks. The system is not a
replacement for driver awareness.
•
The system should never be used in limi-
ted visibility conditions or complicated traf-
c, e.g., in high-traic areas or when crossing
multiple lanes.
•
Be sure to always be aware of the vehicle's
surroundings, since the system often fails to
detect things such as bicycles or pedestrians.
•
The rear cross traic alert itself will not
brake the vehicle to a complete stop.

Fig. 146 On the mirror: warning lamp.
The door opening warning (Exit Assist) warns
occupants of a possible collision when open-
ing the door when the vehicle is station-
ary. The system monitors, within the limits
of the system itself, the rear and side envi-
ronment of the vehicle using the rear sen-
sors

page 157. It detects moving ob-
jects that approach from behind, such as cars
››› Fig. 145.
If a critical situation is detected when the door
is opened, an alert is given by an acoustic sig-
nal on the door speaker of the corresponding
side ››› Fig. 146. The side assist control lamp
on the side of the corresponding door will also
ash. If the door has already been opened and
another road user has been detected in a crit-
ical situation, the control lamp of the lane de-
parture warning on the corresponding side will
light up permanently.
The brightness of the door opening warning
indication cannot be adjusted.
When you want to access the vehicle for the
rst time, with the doors closed and locked,
the function will be available 3 minutes after
the rst opening of any of the doors. The func-
tion will continue to be available as long as the
vehicle has the ignition connected and is not
moving.
After switching o the ignition, the function will
remain available for approximately 3 minutes.
After that time, the control lamps will light up
indicating the deactivation of the function.
WARNING
• Always pay close attention to the traic
and the surroundings of the vehicle. The
door opening warning (Exit Assist) cannot
replace the necessary attention to be paid
by the vehicle’s occupants. The responsibility
for opening the doors and exiting the vehicle
always lies with the occupants of the same.
•
The door opening warning (Exit Assist) op-
erates continuously as long as the vehicle ig-
nition is on. Otherwise, the system is deacti-
vated and the lamps light up briey.
•
It is possible that the traic situation is
not interpreted correctly and you cannot be
aware of all the objects that are approaching,
such as pedestrians. Always visually monitor
the traic and the area surrounding the vehi-
cle.
