Overview

This document describes the Daewoo 3-in-1 Portable Air Conditioner, Model No. COL1316, designed for cooling, dehumidifying, and fan-only operation. It comes with a remote control for convenient operation.

Function Description:

The Daewoo 3-in-1 Portable Air Conditioner is a versatile appliance that offers three primary functions:

  1. Cooling Operation: It provides cooling by expelling hot air through an exhaust hose and circulating cooled air into the room. Users can set the desired room temperature between 16°C and 31°C and choose between low or high fan speeds.
  2. Dehumidifying Operation: In this mode, the unit automatically sets the temperature to 2°C below the room temperature and operates at a low fan speed to remove excess moisture from the air.
  3. Fan Only Operation: This mode allows the unit to function purely as a fan, circulating air without cooling or dehumidifying. Users can select either low or high fan speeds.

The unit also features a Timer Operation for both "Time ON" and "Time OFF" settings, allowing users to program the appliance to switch on or off after a specified number of hours, up to a maximum of 24 hours.

  • Easy Setup: The flexible exhaust hose is designed for straightforward attachment to the unit and can be directed out of a window or door.
  • Portability: Equipped with castors, the unit can be easily moved.
  • Temperature/Time Adjustment: Dedicated buttons (+ and -) on both the control panel and remote allow for precise adjustment of temperature and timer settings.
  • Fan Speed Selection: Users can choose between low and high fan speeds to suit their comfort needs.
  • Mode Selection: A dedicated mode button cycles through Cool, Dehumidify, and Fan Only modes.
  • Water Full Indicator: An indicator light (WF) illuminates when the internal water tank is full, signaling that it needs to be drained.
  • Safety Shut-Off: The unit features an automatic high-temperature shut-off device that activates if the air inlet or exhaust becomes blocked, ensuring safe operation. After clearing a blockage, a 5-minute waiting period is recommended before restarting.
  • Compressor Protection: To prevent damage, avoid restarting the air conditioner unless 3 minutes have passed since it was turned off. The air conditioner must always be stored and transported upright to prevent irreparable damage to the compressor. If in doubt, wait at least 24 hours before restarting.
  • Placement Guidelines: The unit should be placed on a dry, stable surface, at least 1 meter away from any walls or obstructions. It should not be placed in a laundry or wet room, or a room with ignition sources like open flames or operating gas/electric heaters.

Maintenance Features:

  • Water Tank Draining: The internal water tank collects moisture. When the "Water Full" indicator illuminates, the tank needs to be emptied. This can be done by removing the tank drain cover at the bottom rear of the unit and allowing the water to drain, or by connecting a hose for continuous drainage. The drain cover must be replaced before using the unit again.
  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter, located behind the side air inlet grille, requires occasional cleaning. It can be removed by pulling a tab and washed in lukewarm (40°C) water with mild detergent. After washing, the filter should be allowed to dry naturally, laid flat to avoid stretching, and must be thoroughly dried before refitting. The unit should not be used without the filter fitted.
  • General Cleaning: The surface of the unit can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Excess dust from grilles and the exhaust can be removed using a vacuum cleaner's nozzle attachment.
  • Battery Replacement: The remote control uses 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries (not supplied). Batteries should be inserted with correct polarity and removed if the remote is not used for extended periods. Exhausted batteries must be disposed of safely.
  • Refrigerant System: The refrigerant system should not be perforated. Maintenance and repairs involving the refrigerant circuit must be performed by appropriately certified personnel.
  • Defrosting: The air conditioner will defrost on occasions. Do not use tools or heaters to speed up this process, as it may cause damage.

Safety Information:

  • Ensure the unit is intact and free from transit damage before plugging it in.
  • Verify that the voltage matches the local network supply.
