1) Bring the piston in either the #1 cylinder or the #6
cylinder to Top dead Center on the compression
stroke by turning the crankshaft until the TDC
notchecd line on the crankshaft pulley is aligned
with the timing pointer.
Check to see if there is play in the #1 intake and
exhaust valve rocker arms.
If the #1 cylinder intake and exhaust valve rocker
arms have play, the #1 piston is at TDC on the
compression stroke.
If the #1 cylinder intake and exhaust valve rocker
arms are fixed, the #6 piston is at TDC on the
compression stroke.
2) Adjust valve clearances when #1 or #6 piston is
TDC on compression stroke.
3) Release adjusted screw. See figure.
4) Insert a 0.4mm feeler gauge between rocker arm
and valve stem end.
5) Turn the valve clearance adjusting screw until
slight drag can be felt on the feeler gauge.
6) Tighten lock nut.
7) Rotate crankshaft 360
û
for crankshaft pulley TDC
notched line to be realigned with timing pointer.
8) Adjust Other valve clearances as shown in figure.
