Removing the coin-cell battery
Prerequisites
1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
2. Remove the base cover.
About this task
NOTE: Removing the coin-cell battery resets the BIOS setup program's settings to default. It is recommended that you
note the BIOS setup program's settings before removing the coin-cell battery.

Steps
1. Peel the tape that secures the I/O-board cable-latch to the I/O board.
2. Open the latch and disconnect the I/O-board cable from the I/O board.
3. Disconnect the coin-cell battery cable from the I/O board.
4. Peel and lift the coin-cell battery off the palm-rest assembly.

Prerequisites
If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.
