Creating databases

Creating databases
q At the top menu in the
Utility mode, turn the
PARAMETERS knob and
select “Create”.
Press the knob
again to enter.
w The unit is set to
the mode for
creating databases.

Selecting the device
q A list of the currently
connected devices (with
database) is displayed on
the left side of the
screen.
w Turn the
PARAMETERS
knob and select the
device for which
you want to create
the database.
Press the knob
again to enter.
NOTE:
It is possible to create databases even for devices
for which a database already exists. Doing so,
however, creates a new database, so playlists
created up to that point are deleted.

A message asking
whether you want to
create the database or
not pops up at the
bottom left of the
screen.
When “OK” is
selected:
Creation of the database for the device set in
step 2 starts.
A progress bar is displayed, showing you the
progress of the database creation operation.
An indicator indicating that a database is being
created is displayed even while playing
MP3/WAV files.
When “Cancel” is selected:
No database is created for the device set in
step 2 and the screen returns to as it was in
step 2.
Updating the database

q At the top menu in the
database edit mode, turn
the PARAMETERS knob to
select “Update”.
Press the
PARAMETERS
knob to set.
w The updating mode
is set.

Selecting the device
q The currently connected
devices (with database) are
displayed on the left side of
the screen.
w Turn the
PARAMETERS
knob to select the
device whose
database is to be
updated.
Press the
PARAMETERS
knob to set.
Devices cannot be selected if they have no
database.

Selecting whether to add or
delete
q Use the PARAMETERS
knob to select “ADD” or
“Delete”.
ADD:
When there are
files not registered
in the database,
those files are
registered in the
database.
Delete:
Files that are registered in the database but do
not actually exist are deleted from the
database.
When “Cancel” is selected:
The operation is ended without updating the
database for the device selected in step 2.
The screen in step 2 reappears.
Creating temporary databases
Use this procedure to create a database searchable by
file name only.
This database can be created faster than a full database.
Searching using ID3 Tag data is not possible.
However, String Search is possible.

creating the
temporary
database.

want to create a temporary database.

Use this to delete the hotlist.

mode displayed, turn the
PARAMETERS knob to select
“Hotlist Edit”.
Press the
PARAMETERS knob to
set.

The “Hotlist Edit” item is
displayed.
