Overview

The Digifly VI100 Flyer is a sophisticated flight instrument designed for pilots, offering a comprehensive suite of features for navigation, flight recording, and real-time data display. It integrates multiple sensors and advanced software to provide accurate and reliable information during flight.

Function Description:

The VI100 Flyer serves as a primary flight instrument, providing essential data such as altitude, vertical speed (variometer), air speed, temperature, and time. It features a robust flight recorder, PC connectivity for data transfer and software upgrades, and a user-friendly interface with a clear digital display and analog bar. The device is designed to enhance flight safety and performance by offering precise measurements and customizable settings.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Altimeters: Three barometric altimeters with a range of up to 9000 meters (29527 feet). QNH is adjustable.
  • Variometers:
    • Intellivario: Dynamic filter for noise-free vertical speed indication with adjustable sensitivity (parameter n.4 svar, 1-10).
    • Analog Vario: Displays instantaneous vertical speed on a bar to the left of the screen, with a range of +/- 12 m/s (2400 ft/min).
    • Integrator Vario: Displays averaged vertical speed with adjustable integration time (parameter n.5 inte, 1-60 seconds).
    • Acoustic Vario: Modulated acoustic frequency for vertical speed, with adjustable climb threshold (n.1 v-up), descent threshold (n.2 v-dw), and tone (n.3 soun). Volume has three levels.
    • Digital Vario: Range of +/- 25 m/s (5000 ft/min).
  • Total Energy Compensation (TEC): Adjustable percentage value (parameter n.7 tec, 0-100%) to compensate for vario changes due to air speed variations. Active only when the air speed propeller is connected.
  • Air Speed: Measures up to 150 Km/h (93 Mph) with sensor calibration (parameter n.8 kias, 50-200%). Features an adjustable stall alarm (parameter n.6 stal, 0-150 km/h) that is both visual and acoustic.
  • Barometer: Range of 1200-300 mB with user calibration (parameter n.9 kbar, +/- 2000 in 0.1 mB steps).
  • Thermometer: Range of -30 °C to +70 °C (-22 °F to +158 °F).
  • Clock/Chrono: Displays time (clock) and chronometer. Date and time are adjustable (n.10 hour, n.11 min, n.12 day, n.13 mont, n.14 year).
  • Battery: Continuous indication of battery condition. Voltmeter display (example "V 2.8" means 2.8 Volts). Battery level displayed as a percentage (0-90% in 10% steps). Turns off below 1.9 Volts. Battery life: 200 hours.
  • Flight Recorder: Stores minimum and maximum values for the last 100 flights, including altitude, vario, anemometer, total altitude gain, flight duration, takeoff date, and time.
  • Dimensions: 135x72x37 mm.
  • Weight: 200 g (battery included).
  • Connectivity: PC Connection via "PC CABLE" or "FlashPro100" unit. Upgradable flash software.
  • Warranty: 2 Years.

Usage Features:

  • Turning On/Off: Press and hold the "on/off" key for at least 3 seconds. A 5-second delay is required before powering on again after shutdown.
  • Key Pressure: Normal pressure (less than 1 second) and long pressure (more than 1 second) activate different functions.
  • Menu Navigation: Press the "menu" key to enter the main menu. Use the "up" or "down" keys to navigate submenus and the "enter" key to confirm. Press "menu" again to return to the main menu or exit.
  • Submenus: Include "rec" (recorder activation), "alti" (altimeters setting), "peak" (peaks recorder review), "link" (PC connection), "set" (parameters setting), and "unit" (units of measure setting).
  • Parameter Adjustment: In a submenu, use "up" or "down" to display parameters. Press "enter" to edit (value flashes), use "up" or "down" to change the value, and press "enter" again to store and exit.
  • Altimeter Management:
    • Switch between 3 altimeters by pressing the "display" key.
    • Reset A2 and A3 to zero with a long press of the "enter" key.
    • Set altimeter values (ALT1, ALT2, ALT3) and reference pressures (PRS1, PRS2, PRS3) in the "alti" submenu.
    • Set all altimeters to 1013.2 mb standard reference pressure by pressing "menu", then "down" until "alti" is displayed, then long press "volume" and "down" keys until a triple sound is heard.
  • Acoustic Vario Volume: Adjustable with three levels by pressing the "volume" key.
  • Units of Measure: In the "unit" submenu, set "alti" for meters/feet, "ias" for km/h/mph, and "temp" for °C/°F.
  • Flight Recorder Operation:
    • Start: Press "menu", then "enter". "star" appears, then "rec" blinks.
    • Stop: Press "menu", then "enter" within two seconds. "stop" appears.
    • Automatic Start (Firmware 7.1): Configurable via parameter 15 AUTR:
      • 0 = Manual Start
      • 1 = Start when turning on the instrument.
      • 2 = Start when takeoff is detected (based on 16 R-MT and 17 R-TI parameters). Takeoff is considered valid with a barometric variation > 2 mt in < 4 seconds.
