CALIBRATE
§ Calibrate GPS & compass
§ Start engines
TAKE-OFF AREA
CLEAR
§ Check take-off area is clear of persons and foreign objects
CONTROLS & RESPONSE
Once stable in hover check -
• Controls & correct response
• Battery level
• GPS strength
• Controller signal
AFTER TAKE-OFF
• Pilot & spotter agree that the area is clear of dangers and the operation can
safely begin
• Monitor batteries regularly (every minute or so)
• Monitor for incursions and dangers at all times
