2.3.21. Cooling system
Cooling water is used to cool down the engine. The cooling water pump is driven by
the belt. The impeller type pump is used that doesn't require maintenance.
z Check the cooling water level by opening the cooling water cap of the expansion
tank, and refill cooling water, if necessary.
z Before pouring antifreeze, drain used cooling water from cylinder blocks and
radiator and clean neatly.
z Mix antifreeze with tap water.
z The EGR cooler and turbo charge cooling are added.
2.3.22. Coolant pressure cap
z Check opening pressure of the
pressure value, using a radiator
cap tester.
z Replace the cooling water cap, if
the measurement value doesn't
satisfy the standard value.
NOTICE :
Do not open the pressure cap if
cooling water is hot.
Wait until the engine cools down.
Otherwise, you can be burned
due to hot steam and cooling water.
If you have to open a pressure cap
inevitably, wrap the pressure cap
with cloth or protection glove and
open the pressure cap slowly to
reduce internal pressure of the tank.
Then, open the cap completely.
