What to do if my DR PRO engine will not start manually?
    • J
      Jody SwansonAug 23, 2025
If your DR Lawn Mower engine won't start manually, there are several things to check: * Ensure the spark plug wire is properly attached. * Verify the Fuel Shut-Off valve is in the ON position (Kawasaki gas tank only). * Confirm the engine has the correct amount of clean oil; if dirty, change it. * Prime the engine by pushing the Primer Bulb 3 to 5 times. * Use fresh, clean gas and a fuel stabilizer if storing gas longer than a month. * Check the Fuel Filter to ensure it's clear. * Ensure the air filter is clean; if dirty, change it. * Make sure the Throttle is in the RUN position and the Throttle Cable is moving freely. * Inspect the spark plug; clean or replace if dirty or cracked. If oily, remove it, clear any oil from the cylinder, and reinsert.

What to do if blades vibrate when engaged on my DR PRO Lawn Mower?
    • D
      donald96Sep 2, 2025
If the blades vibrate when engaged on your DR Lawn Mower, the blade carrier mounting bolt may not be tight enough. Tighten the bolt as tight as possible by hand with at least a 1ft long 1-1/8" wrench. A swinging blade may be too loose on the blade carrier, so re-tighten the swinging blade mounting hardware.

Why won't the blades engage on my DR PRO Lawn Mower?
    • I
      Isabel ShafferSep 3, 2025
The blades on your DR Lawn Mower may not engage due to a faulty blade control switch, so remove and replace the switch on the remote control. A low or weak battery may cause electric clutch to not engage, so check battery for sufficient voltage.

    • P
      Paige RobinsonSep 4, 2025
If your DR Lawn Mower experiences excessive engine stalling, raise the cutting height and drive slower when cutting because the brush or grass is too heavy at the current cutting height or at the current Tow Vehicle speed.

Why is my DR Lawn and Garden Equipment engine smoking?
    • B
      Brenda SaundersSep 5, 2025
If your DR Lawn and Garden Equipment engine is smoking, possible causes include: the oil level may need adjustment, you might be operating the machine on too steep of an incline, the air filter could be dirty and need cleaning or replacing, you may be using the wrong type of oil (too light for the temperature), or the engine cooling fins and carburetor housing might be dirty and require cleaning. Refer to your Engine Owner’s Manual for detailed information about the oil.

How to fix a DR Lawn and Garden Equipment recoil that is hard to pull?
    • A
      Alex GutierrezSep 5, 2025
If the recoil on your DR Lawn and Garden Equipment is difficult to pull, the engine oil level may need checking, as the engine might be seized. Alternatively, there could be an oil compression lock in the cylinder; remove the spark plug, cover the spark plug hole with a rag, and pull the recoil cord several times to clear any oil, then wipe and reinstall the spark plug. It's also possible the recoil is broken or jammed; with the spark plug wire off, try turning the engine pulley by hand. If it turns, the recoil is likely broken or jammed.

    • J
      Jessica WebbSep 6, 2025
If your DR Tractor Accessories engine won't start manually, make sure the key is in the RUN position and the spark plug wire is attached. Inspect the operator presence switch connections beneath the panel at the key switch and at the engine. Check the oil and gas levels, replacing old gas if necessary, and consider using a fuel stabilizer. Verify the throttle adjustment and travel. Examine the spark plug for dirt or cracks, replacing it if needed. If the spark plug is oily, remove it, cover the plug hole with a rag, and pull the recoil cord to clear any oil. Finally, check the air filter and replace it if dirty, following the engine owner’s manual.
