Dolphin is a semi-closed rebrea-
ther, meaning that a small amount
of gas (about one breath in five)
is released rather than scrubbed
for carbon dioxide, reoxygenated,
and breathed. It is a purely me-
chanical device; there are no sen-
sors, complicated computers,
battery packs, or other electrical
devices to malfunction.
The diver breathes through the
dual hose mouthpiece (14), with
the exhaled gas going through the
exhaust hose into the exhalation
bag (20). From there, the exhaled
gas flows through the CO
2
scrub-
ber unit (23). Excess exhalation
gas is released through a pressure
relief valve (18). The CO
2
is re-
moved from the exhaled gas by the
alkaline scrubber material in the
scrubber cartridge (23).
After the exhaled gas goes
through the CO
2
scrubber cart-
ridge, it flows into the inhalation
bag (21), where it is free to travel
through the inhalation hose (16)
to the diver upon inhalation. Gas
flow is regulated by directional
valves (24,25) within the mouth-
piece. The mouthpiece comes fit-
ted with a sealed watertight val-
ve, which can be closed and ope-
ned by the diver.
Warning!
NEVER take the mouthpiece out
of your mouth underwater without
first closing the mouthpiece val-
ve. Failure to do so may flood the
CO
2
scrubber unit, leading to a
complete system failure, loss of
buoyancy, and the formation of a
”caustic cocktail”, any one of
which could lead to serious injury
or death.
Das Dolphin ist ein Mischgaskreis-
lauf-Tauchgerät mit halbgeschlos-
senem Atemkreislauf. Der Taucher
atmet durch das Ventilmundstück
(14). Das vom Taucher ausgeat-
mete Gas wird durch den Aus-
atemschlauch (15) in den Aus-
atembeutel geleitet. Von dort fließt
das Gas weiter in die CO
2
-Ab-
sorptionspatrone (23). Das über-
schüssige Gas wird aus dem Aus-
atembeutel durch das einstellba-
re Überdruckventil (18) an die
Umgebung abgegeben.
Das durch die CO
2
-Absorptions-
patrone fließende Ausatemgas
wird durch den dort eingefüllten
Atemkalk vom CO
2
befreit. Aus
der CO
2
-Absorptionspatrone
fließt das Gas in den Einatembeu-
tel (21), und von dort weiter durch
den Einatemschlauch (16) zum
Mundstück (14). Die Flußrichtung
des Gases wird durch die in den
Mundstückanschlüssen einge-
setzten Richtungsventile (24,25)
gesteuert.
Das Mundstück kann durch ein
Walzenventil wasserdicht ver-
schlossen werden.
Warnung!
Nehmen Sie auf keinen Fall das
Mundstück aus dem Mund, solan-
ge Sie daraus atmen, und der
Schieber geöffnet ist. Wollen Sie
das Mundstück aus dem Mund
nehmen, so müssen Sie zuvor
unbedingt den Schieber schlie-
ßen. Nichtbeachtung kann zur Flu-
tung des Kalkbehälters führen,
was den Verlust von Auftrieb so-
wie die Bildung eines sogenann-
ten "Cocktails" zur Folge haben
kann. Beides kann zu körperlichen
Schäden oder zum Tod führen.
