Levering tool
Magnum drawout breakers are designed for closed door
manual levering by use of a standard 3/8-inch (10 mm)
drive set, which is a commonly available tool. This elimi-
nates the need for a unique levering device, which tends
to get lost if not properly stored.
Motorized remote racking device (MR2)
A new integral motorized racking device accessory that
meets Supplement SC of the UL 1066 standard is avail-
able. The Eaton MR2 has the following features:
•
The MR2 allows moving the breaker between the
connected, test and disconnected positions. All of
this can be done from a safe distance (dependant on
user selected length of Ethernet cable) via a handheld
pendant, with the breaker compartment door closed.
•
Breaker position is indicated on the pendant by LED
lights. A blinking light indicates that the circuit breaker
is in the motion through the selected position. A solid
(non-blinking) light indicates that the circuit breaker has
reached and stopped in the selected position. In case
the normal operation fails, the appropriate error code is
displayed on the pendant in a separate 2-character LED
display window.
•
The system allows manual racking of the circuit breaker
using the levering crank accessory. Manual racking
operation disables the motorized racking accessory.
•
It is possible to enable/disable operation of the motor-
ized racking accessory via the customer’s external
interlocking/permissive contacts.
•
A 120 Vac control power input for the MR2 motorized
racking accessory is required.
•
The handheld pendant includes “Open” and “Close”
pushbuttons to allow remote operation of the circuit
breaker. This requires the breaker to be equipped with a
shunt trip and spring release, and additional wiring.
•
A controller can be mounted in each circuit breaker
control compartment for control of the motorized
racking accessory external hard-wired dry contacts.
For example, the pushbuttons can be located at a
remote-control panel. The controller can be used to
provide output terminals for connections of remote
24 Vdc LEDs for indication of breaker position status at
a remote panel. With this controller, the circuit breaker
can be moved from disconnect to test to connect or
from connect to test to disconnect positions from a
remote-control panel. Whenever the hand-held pendant
is in use, the pendant becomes the main controller and
will override the customer’s remote-control signals. This
controller can be used to interface to a local SCADA
system or Modbus RTU.

Eaton’s Dashboard can connect via the Modbus RTU
interface to provide an easy-to-use HMI interface for
control of the motorized racking accessory. Whenever
the hand-held pendant is in use, the pendant overrides
all other interfaces to the MR2 racking accessory.
Magnum external remote racking device (MRR1000)
Eaton’s MRR1000 remote racking device provides a
means of remotely inserting or removing any drawout
circuit breaker in the Magnum family of air circuit breakers
(ACBs), to help mitigate arc flash exposure. The MRR1000
permits the operator to remotely open and close a breaker
from up to 100 feet away during the rack-in or rack-out
process, a distance well beyond the arc flash boundary for
traditional LV switchgear. More information can be found
