CLD 780 TR / July 2000 135
system, and the ozone generator is supplied with dry air from a silica gel
cartridge. The built-in pressure regulator closes when the power is off, in
order to avoid wasting gas when a cylinder is used to supply the ozone
generator with oxygen. As a result, when the vacuum pump is left running
with the instrument power off, the ozone generator and its gas tubing are
evacuated.
When the power is now turned on, the pressure regulator opens but the
dry air cartridge cannot supply air rapidly enough to equalize the inlet
pressure before the electronic pressure monitoring system (correctly) reg-
isters an error situation.
Check the “InP. O3” pressure value in the TEST window (see section
5.2.2.4 window 22). If this is normal, then the error can be cleared (see
section 5.2.2.6 window 25). If using an oxygen cylinder to supply the
ozone generator, check the pressure reducing valve. This problem can
also occur as a result of a blocked ozone generator inlet filter.
E-05: “Ozonator High Voltage Fail“
1
Erroneous operation of one or both ozone generator modules. Modules
needs to be checked by a service technician.

Errors E-01 to E-05 are categorized as “Fatal errors”. When a fatal er-
ror occurs, the analyzer immediately switches to “Standby” operation
(see section 5.2.2.6).
When one of the following error or warning situations occurs the CLD 780
TR continues measuring but the data must be treated with caution as it
may not be accurate. The operator must decide under the given circum-
stances, and depending on which error or warning has occurred, if valid
data is being measured.
Warning messages are displayed for only as long as the fault conditions
which gave rise to them still exist.
E-10: “Inlet Temperature fail“
This error is generated when the temperature of the gas inlet deviates
from the set value by more than 25 °C.
A failure of the temperature sensor (short or open circuit) will also cause
an E-10 to be generated.
In both cases a service call is necessary.
Note: If the heater is electrically disconnected by the operator, further
measurements can still be made despite the error message. However as a
consequence the data values will be unstable, and the instrument will not
achieve its specified performance. The user must decide under these cir-
cumstances if valid data is being measured.
