Why is my Ecodyne Water Systems Water Dispenser sometimes dispensing hard water?
    • C
      Cole EvansAug 17, 2025
If your Ecodyne Water Systems Water Dispenser is sometimes dispensing hard water, it could be due to several reasons. The present time or recharge time settings may be incorrect, causing bypassed hard water to be used during recharge. Check the displayed time and the regeneration starting time. The hardness number setting might also be too low; check the current hardness setting and increase it if needed. Avoid using hot water during recharges, because the water heater refills with hard water. Also, there might be an increase in the actual hardness of your water supply. Have an unsoftened water sample tested and check the current “Hardness” setting, increasing it if necessary. Finally, the turbine may not be turning freely; check the turbine.

If your Ecodyne Water Systems Water Dispenser isn't producing soft water, there might be several reasons. First, check if there is salt in the storage tank; if not, add salt and then initiate a “Recharge Now”. Another cause might be that the salt is “bridged” (a layer of salt in the salt storage tank has hardened). If so, break the salt bridge and then initiate a “Recharge Now”. Also, ensure that the manual bypass valve(s) are in the service position. Check that the valve drain hose does not have any kinks, sharp bends, or is raised too high above the softener. Finally, the issue might be a dirty, plugged, or damaged nozzle & venturi, so take apart, clean, and inspect the nozzle & venturi assembly.
