Robust reverse osmosis systems are designed for water puricaon using reverse osmosis
membranes — special semipermeable membranes that allow purifying tap water from all harmful
impuries, including nitrates and viruses (see Figure 1 below).
RObust is a mulstage direct ow ltraon system, which operates according to the following
scheme:
Feed cold water rst undergoes pre-ltraon (1st pre-lter in the Robust 3000 system or 1st and
2nd pre-lters in other systems) where it is stripped of suspended parcles (rust, sand, hemp
strands etc.).
The pressure booster pump feeds water to the reverse osmosis membranes mounted in parallel
or in series. If the supply of feed water is cut o or the input pressure is lowered below 0.15-0.2
bar, a low-pressure switch is triggered, closes the inlet valve and turns o the pump. Even when
the puried water faucet is opened, the system will not start unl the supply of feed water is
restored with sucient pressure.
Permeate (puried water) goes to puried water outlet or pressure tank outlet (if installed),
passing through the carbon post-lter (if provided dy the lter design), and the concentrate
through the ow restrictor is discharged into the drain.
RObustPro system is equipped special RObustPro replacement lter allows to get water with
a small content of magnesium and calcium, which enhance the extracon of coee avor and
aroma components.
High pressure switch installed before the post-lter reads pressure in permeate line and starts the
reverse osmosis system when the pressure drops (due to taking of some water from the pressure
tank or opening puried water faucet). When the system switches on, entry solenoid valve is
opened and booster pump is powered up, which allows feed water into the system. When puried
water faucet is closed, pressure starts to build up, closes high pressure switch turns o the system.
On the Robust system front panel there are two pressure gauges (if provided dy the lter design). One
shows the water pressure aer the pre-lters, and the second shows the pressure aer the pump
in the membrane unit. The panel also provides informaon on requirements, recommendaons for
resolving possible problems if requirement are not met.
