12. Maintenance
12.1 Cleaning and disinfection
The cleaning and disinfection differs between normal surface cleaning
and disinfection of equipment and the cleaning and disinfection of the
flow system
Risk of infection, wear suitable gloves!
12.1.1 Cleaning and Disinfection of the device
Cleaning the device is best accomplished with a lint-free cloth, lightly
dampened with clear water. For more stubborn soiling, a mild soap
solution may be used. For disinfection, commercially available solutions
intended for surface disinfection can be used if they do not contain
alcohol or other solvents.
Do not clean the inner sensor cell (see Figure 7, page 15), particularly
the electric contacts. The flow cell can be carefully treated with a lint-free
cloth.
To avoid operation of buttons when cleaning the display, remove the
bottle of system solution.
12.1.2 Cleaning and Disinfection of the flow system
In order to maintain the high precision of measurement, it is
recommended to clean the flow system of the device approx. every 3
months. Disinfection of the flow system is recommended prior to change
of maintenance parts. EKF-diagnostic GmbH offers cleaning and
disinfectant solutions for this purpose (see section 16, page 54).
The chip sensor is destroyed be the used solutions.
However, a chip sensor has to be in the measuring channel. Only carry
out this procedure if the sensor needs to be changed or an old sensor or
dummy sensor is available.
The procedure is started using menu item 9.10 Cleaning / Disinfection.
Follow the instructions on the display.
