EKO INSTRUMENTS CO., LTD. I-V Curve Checker MP-11 Instruction Manual Ver.7
Pg. 85
10-3. Troubleshooting
Check the following items in case of trouble with the instrument. If any questions should remain, contact
EKO for further technical support.
Table 10-3. Troubleshooting
Symptoms
Countermeasure
I-V Curve cannot be measured.
Make sure the PV module/array capacity is not exceeding the MP-11
measureable range limit.
Fuse may be blown. MP-11 is a precision instrument; DO NO OPEN the
instrument to prevent secondary accident. Immediately contact EKO for
fuse replacement.
PC and the Main Unit are not
communicating.
Check whether the USB driver is properly installed in the PC.
Check the COM port number selection in the General Setting.
Cannot take continuous
measurement
Check the time setting; the end time maybe setup earlier than the start time.
Isc side of the I-V Curve is
higher.
This is not a defect. This condition maybe seen when most of the modules
/strings are shaded or large capacity PV devices, such as amorphous PV
module/array and HIT PV module/array, are measured. This condition cannot
be avoided with the capacitive load method used on this I-V Checker; however,
the value for the Isc are calculated with linear approximation from the flat area
of the I-V Curve, and it is taken measures not to affect the value itself as much
as possible.
FF value of a measured I-V
Curve is too small.
Isc side of a measured I-V
Curve is too far apart from
the vertical axis of the graph.
The cable for PV module/array maybe too long or the junction resistance maybe
too big. The parts of resistance for measurement circuit and the cable will affect
the measurement value. A PV module/array with relatively low voltage and
large current value may cause this condition.
The date/time setting goes out
of order.
MP-11 uses a backup battery which maintains the internal clock operation
Thus when the batteries die, the setup date and time will be cleared.
Always check the date and time before use; when they are out of order, set up
again.
The parameters setup from PC
are not reflected on the Main
Unit.
MP-11 is capable of setting the parameters from PC when using it with PC
connected; however, the parameter setup from PC is erased when the power of
Main Unit is turned off. Set the parameters on the Main Unit again.
