What to do if my ELAC Turntable audio signals are reproduced distorted or not loud enough?

If the audio signals from your ELAC Turntable are distorted or not loud enough, even with the volume turned up, it could be due to a couple of reasons: * The pre-amplifier connected to the turntable might not be providing enough gain or a suitable RIAA equalization. Ensure your preamplifier has the correct input settings. If necessary, connect a phono preamp. * The pre-amplifier might be misadapted. Use the 'Moving Magnet' option for the phono preamp and ensure the input impedance is set to 47 kOhm.

Why is my ELAC Miracord 90 making a loud humming noise?
    • A
      Amanda BarronAug 2, 2025
A loud humming noise from your ELAC Turntable is likely due to contact problems with the signal connections. Check all connections, including RCA plugs, extensions, and adapters. To isolate the issue, reduce the amplifier's volume to a minimum during the check. You may also need to readjust the ground rings on the RCA plugs.

If the motor of your ELAC Turntable isn't working, here are a few things to check: 1. Ensure the turntable is properly connected to the mains and that the mains fuse hasn't blown. Check the mains plug, receptacle, and fuse. 2. Verify that the power supply is correctly connected by checking the Lumberg plug for a secure fit. 3. Make sure the rotary switch isn't in the '0' position. Switch it to either '33 Upm' or '45 Upm'.

Why is my ELAC Turntable making a gentle humming noise?
    • A
      Ashley SmithAug 20, 2025
A gentle humming noise from your ELAC Turntable can occur if the metal housing acts as an antenna, catching interference. In some cases, connecting the metal parts of the turntable to the signal ground of the phono-preamp can help. Use the earthing screw on the rear of the turntable and a wire with sufficient cross-section for the ground connection.
