To Test Lighting System
The lighting is provided by LED lights in the freezer,
in the bottom of each food door shining in the open
freezer basket, left and right food compartment and
in the Perfect Temp Drawer if equipped, The lighting
assemblies are in zones with 1 to as many as 4 lights
to a zone. The lights in each zone are in series so if
one goes out, all the lights in that zone will go out. The
service test mode will show if the door switches are
working and if there is a signal from the main control to
the lighting control. If both test good in service mode, it
will be necessary to make a voltage test at the first LED
in each zone to see if the lighting control board is bad
or if an LED is bad. Voltage ranges from 19-23 VDC
+/-10%, dependent on amount of lights in the series.
To Test the Freezer Compartment Lights:
Enter the service test mode and go the test number 9
to turn on the lights or test number 24 to test the door
switch. This is the freezer light test, and “FZ” will
display on the freezer temperature display. Open the
freezer and you will see a 1, 2 or a 3 in the Fresh Food
temperature display.
A (1) in the Fresh Food compartment temperature
display means the lower control board is sending a
signal to the lighting control board, telling lighting control
to turn on the freezer lights which are lighting zone 4.
A (2) in the Fresh Food compartment temperature
display means there is no signal going from the lower
control board to the lighting control. Remove both the
lighting control board and the lower control board. Check
for bad connections on the jumper harness running
between the two boards. If the connections are good,
replace the lower control board.
A (3) in the Fresh Food temperature display means the
lower control board is not receiving a signal from the
freezer light switch. Check the light switch and the
wiring connections between the light switch and the
lower control board. If the switch is bad, replace it. If
you are not getting a signal from the lower control board
to the switch, replace the lower control board.
If the display is showing a number 1 in the Fresh Food
display and the light in the freezer is not working, remove
light number 1 in zone 4 and look for 14.7 at the LED.
If voltage is present, replace the LED. If no voltage
is present, check connections between the LED and
lighting control board for open or loose connections. If
connections are good, check for 115 VAC coming for
(J1) #1 Terminal 115VAC
(J1) #8 Terminal

voltage is correct, replace the light control board. (See
